Lieutenant Colonel Allen West announced his candidacy to become Governor of Texas this morning in a 7-minute video that detailed his history, celebrated the heroes of the Texas Revolution, and using comparisons to the Alamo, urged Texans to join him on the “right” side of the “line in the stand” with their vote.
“Now it is our time, it is our time to stand up and honor those words of Texas, Our Texas, and to secure the future for our children and our grandchildren, to make sure the growth, the opportunity, and the prosperity, the economic success that you see here in Texas, continues on,” said West, after exploring the Republic of Texas’s rich history of volunteers and politicians who came from other states. West, who was born in Georgia and attended the University of Tennessee noted that over 30 men from Tennessee were among the early leaders of the Republic of Texas, and those who fought at the Alamo.
“That means that we stay energy independent, and we fuel America, so that we’re not dependent on other nations – other nations that are our enemies,” said West. “To make sure that we secure our borders, to make sure that Texas is for Texans.” West added, “We cannot live in a state that is the number one state for human and sex trafficking in the United States of America. That’s not how we protect our children and our legacy.” West then suggested Texas needs modern heroes to match those of the Texas Revolution.

West needs to keep his powder dry and wait to run for Cornyn’s Senate seat.
He stopped off in Fla before he got to TX.
Mast is gun grabbing scum.
And that is what Republicans continue to do — fall for the two sided coin. Republicans can do almost whatever they want while in office as long as they turn conservative for the election and repeatedly fall for it. Look at McCain and Cornyn as just two examples
I wish Col. West would drop all this governor talk. We don’t need him in a state capital. We need him as a senator in Washington, DC.
Do not think that this is a good decision for West. There must be some other office for him to run for. He is a good man.
Yes! Your knowledge and research are sound. Martel will be known forever as one of France’s greatest heroes. Yet comparatively few in America know who he was, which amazes me. Hearing Lt. Col. West speak so eloquently about him caught my attention right away.
Hearing him testify at his Article 32 hearing that he would “go through Hell with a gasoline cam” when it came to the safety of his men was pretty cool too.
He also missed an opportunity back during the Ice Storm, because he failed to tell the EPA to pound sand. That travesty was easily avoided or at least made much less damaging. He also wimped out on most of his Covid decrees by allowing individual business or school boards to decide for themselves.
West could knock off Cornyn and he wouldn’t have to move.
This x 100.
Saved me from writing it.
I was furious at Abbot when he shut down the state early in the pandemic. I wont forget that, along with freezing my butt off during the storm.
But I don’t know if West can beat him in the primary. I will vote for whoever wins the Republican primary though, because all of the Republicans are 100000000000000 times better than any commie leftist!
You sort of chose to ignore that he was gerrymandered out of that seat. GOPe doesn't like him one bit.
Will be healthy IF the contestants don’t create a circular firing squad.
Yep but you just re-elected him now you are stuck with him until 2026.
As you say, he moved here a few years ago. That is long enough to establish residency.
Carpetbaggers only move in a few days or months before the deadline ... Big difference.
Now, if you want to talk about being ‘truly Texan’, I will set the stakes at Five Generations. Can you match that bid?
I like that idea better.
Why not run against George P instead?
Or Col West could be a man of strategy. Texas is a very important state that is getting bluer by the day. Roll Tide.
Then they're confusing Abbott with a previous TX GOP governor, Rick "Goodhair" Perry.
