Portland ran a pricy full-page Sunday ad in the New York Times promoting tourism after the Portland police riot squad quit Thursday.
“Some of what you’ve heard about Portland is true. Some is not. What matters is that we’re true to ourselves,” Travel Portland wrote in the ad that could have cost up to $250,000.
“You’ve heard a lot about us lately. It’s been a while since you heard from us,” it continues.
“After a year of encouraging visitors and locals to support small businesses here and from a distance, it’s time to issue an invitation to come back to Portland,” the ad states. “Two sides to the same coin that keeps landing right on its edge. Anything can happen. We like it this way.”
“This is the kind of place where new ideas are welcome — whether they’re creative, cutting-edge or curious at first glance. You can speak up here. You can be yourself here.,” it continues.
The ad comes after Portland’s voluntary rapid response team of 50 resigned to protest charges against a police officer who allegedly hit an independent journalist in the Black Lives Matter riots that lit a federal building ablaze in August 2020.
The police union said nearly 200 rioters set upon the voluntary rapid response team and Officer Corey Budworth unintentionally hit the activist in the head with a baton, believing the activist was a part of the riot.
Activist Teri Jacobs “was not charged with any crime, and was awarded a $50,000 settlement by the City of Portland over the incident,” it was reported. “Jacobs says she was attacked despite carrying a press card.”
The Portland Police Bureau statement:
“Unfortunately, this decorated public servant has been caught in the crossfire of agenda-driven city leaders and a politicized criminal justice system,” they wrote.

Will some NYT readers switch from Nigeria and Syria to Portland for their two week vacations? Tempting.
I think I will not go to Portland, under any circumstances. 😀😊
At the same time that Portland is advertising for tail gunners for garbage trucks!
They may as well have burned that money in the street. Hey Portland, nobody’s coming!
Come to Portland, Burn a Building, Loot a Store, Have some meth...
At what cost, you twit...at what cost? I think Portland is about to find out the cost of letting a bunch of thugs run the city.
You can be yourself here...
just don’t dare wear a MAGA cap.
...and as far as I'm concerned, you can be by yourself, too. I sure as hell won't be coming there.
Come spend your vacation with criminals, rioters, drug addicts and the homeless!! Make sure to get special trip insurance, because it’s as hazardous here as in the Third World!
Portland can burn to the ground for all I care. Put a 30 foot fence around it and don’t let anyone in or out.
I have no doubt they need them. 😀🤗😊

Admiring Handy Work: NBC Gawks at Low Cop Morale After Stoking Hate

As part of their “Future of the Force” series Monday, NBC Nightly News and anchor Lester Holt took a step back to admire their handy work, gawking at how morale in police departments nationwide was “at an all-time low.” Of course, this comes after the network spent over a year stoking hate of cops, backing the defund the police movement, decrying cops protecting their lives, and deceptively editing evidence of a just use of force to protect a civilian.
“After a year of facing unrest, more and more police officers are leaving the job. And many say morale has plummeted,” announced Holt, as if he had nothing to do with it.
Correspondent Gabe Gutierrez unironically filed his report from Portland, Oregon, which saw Antifa terrorists try to kill police by trapping them in the federal courthouse and trying to burn it down:
Since last July, at least 115 Portland officers left the force either by resigning or retiring. There are barely 800 left. Just last week, members of the city’s rapid response team resigned from the unit after one officer was charged with excessive force during a protest last year

I don’t think getting beat up by Antifags is on anyone’s bucket list.
What’s next in Portland...its a subscriber exclusive story from “Oregon Live” tonight...Traffic stops for minor offenses will end to prevent “disproportionate stops of people of color”.
Should you vacation in Portland?
You’ve got to ask yourself one question:
“Do I feel lucky? “
Well do ya, punk?
Yep. Traffic stops be rayciss.
Once again, the officers of the Portland Ready Response team did not resign from the Portland PD. They simply quit volunteering to be team members. They are all still Portland Police. The only chance is, there won’t be a formal team of volunteers who handle riots in Portland. Instead, police officers will be chosen from among the ranks and sent to work riots.
