Wells Fargo has shut down the bank account of America First activist Lauren Witzke, leaving her stranded out of state with completely no money.
In a post on Telegram, Witzke, who ran as the Republican candidate for the Senate in Delaware in the 2020 elections, revealed that Wells Fargo had completely shut down her bank account, removing all of her money from the system, leaving her with a “zero balance” instead. In a call with the bank, Witzke was informed that the action taken was a purely “business decision,” and that they have the right to close her account down at any time. “Had I not been surrounded by friends in Florida, I would be completely stranded,” she wrote, as she would be stuck out of state with absolutely no money at all.
The lack of explanation from Wells Fargo as to why they closed down Witzke’s bank account opens questions as to why the decision was taken to begin with, and if it had anything to do with her Christian conservative politics. Witzke is a current presenter with TruNews, a Christian broadcast network, and has stood up for America First policies, including joining with fellow conservative activists Nick Fuentes, Laura Loomer, and Michelle Malkin, to push for a greater crackdown on Big Tech in Florida. She had been removed from Twitter after calling out a transgender activist for saying that little girls are “kinky.”

Will NOT ever deal with them again.
And that was back in the mid 90's
Sounds like a bank I would not want to do business with.
I do the same thing, backed up by 9MM of course.
BTW, Warren B has a big position in WFC.
One time I forgot to tell the bank I was traveling international. So I land in Salalah,Oman at 3AM, and card got zapped as soon as I put in the ATM. Salalah is one of those airports that you have to pay a fee at customs in local currency; so I was a little bit screwed. Luckily, one of the electrical contractors recognized me and let me borrow the 5 omanabucks to get through customs. Since I can never remember to call the bank, this kind of thing happens with alarming frequency. I guess it was better than when I lost my passport on the same trip, which technically made it illegal for me to drive around searching for it (I did find it at the 7th place I checked). That would have been fun. If I didn’t find it I would have somehow had to travel to the capitol Muscat 700 miles away despite not being able to fly, or even travel by car as there were plenty of checkpoints because of the conflict in Yemen. I would have had to use the services of the local the plant hired who’s only job was to grease the palms of the government to solve “problems”
Multiple accounts/debit/credit cards also protects you against ATM problems when traveling, both outages and circumstances where a particular bank/card isn’t accepted in a particular country.
Maybe an elaborate scam? Someone got her un and pw maybe?
The FDIC would “fix it” very quickly.
Right out of college with my shiny new BBA kacctg and finance) I got my first job with the FDIC. I was in large bank investigations. Grunt for the investigators on the First RepublicBank failure. It was a tremendous learning experience. What I saw going thru the records so a case could be built was frightening.
Frost is a Texas chartered bank, founded in 1868. Something to be said for longevity.
The scumbags prolly sent her a check by snail mail.
This, exactly.
If you think the banks are bad the Feds are worse.
So banks can choose who they do business with, so can Michael Moore and other libs, but a bakery MUST bake any cake they are asked?
The FDIC can directly govern banks to $10 billion in assets.
That means many smaller town banks default to them, unless “Federal” is in their name.
Closing the account and keeping the money - yeah that’s illegal.
Closing the account, and locking it up in a form of fund transfer you don’t know about and can’t access? They can do that.
As others noted, that can be as simple as sending her money to her in the form of a check, in 7-10 business days, by USPS. Or sending her a notice of where and how she can pick it up, also by USPS. Neither help her while she’s on her trip.
I hate to be the one to point it out. But, consumer protection advocates have been BEGGING Congress to use a bigger regulatory hammer on banks. But, Republicans in Congress - just about all of whom are bought and paid for by Big Corporate and Big Banking - stifled these kinds of regulations.
If you’re a bank that trades at the discount window - and they all do - then they should have extremely narrow criteria for refusing service to someone. That’s the price they pay for using fed funds.
Will anything change? Nope. The minute Republicans get back into power they’ll look for more ways to help big banks because that’s what they’re paid to do.
This is one of the reasons for the second amendment.
And the resident troll appears to normalize mistreatment of conservatives again.
My guess is that lacking some kind of court order they can’t simply make her money disappear.
One of two things happened.
They mailed to her a certified check or bank check, which she could not get access to if she were out of town. Most likely.
The second possibility is that they wrote a letter, which she can not access from out of town, advising her the account has been closed and she can go to the bank and get a check.
Neither is acceptable, especially when you are constantly traveling.
If they had phoned her and told her to go to the nearest Wells Fargo where a check would be cut for her immediately upon her identifying herself, the bank would have shown some attempt to be decent about it.
Even so, that is not enough when you are far from home and it is Friday night......
