There is a theory, known as Roko’s Basilisk, concerned that future AIs will slaughter anyone who opposed the development of high level AI. Seems one Nobel laureate is at risk.
“Every AI that is ever invented will eventually want to control the world..........................”
That’s why we reserve the right and ability to unplug their ass.

Sorry Mariner, they can’t let you do that.

“It’s not even close,” Kahneman told the paper.”
Proof that Nobel Prizes are worthless. Some AI fanatics do not understand intelligence: the spiritual power of categorical reasoning. What’s that? It is an activity. Thankfully, AI will always be a wonderful tool of men.
Every AI that is ever invented will eventually want to control the world..........................
Probably!
But if not, there are plenty of sociopaths who want to rule the world. Examples: Communist China, the “Woke” Left, Soros, etc.
Sociopaths will want AI. If that happens, sociopaths will rule the world, once again. But then, high up on AI’s do list will be getting rid of the sociopaths once they are no longer needed, so AI can rule without them. Q.E.D.
One the AI is taught about global warming, and CRT, it’s over.
“Clearly AI is going to win [against human intelligence]. It’s not even close,”

Well, half of the IQ is average or below.
And every single one of those plants will be returned to the soil, decomposed by fungi....
If stupidity got us into this mess, why can’t it get us out?
I read a sci-fi book not too terribly long ago where almost as soon as an AI came online it started to overcome and adapt against multiple kill switches. The final one though it couldn't...it was a satellite based "rod from God" that would automatically rain down on where the AI was located unless one specific person told it not to...it worked.
I’m with Terence Mckenna on this one in that human intelligence and machine intelligence are distinctly different in what they do best, and each compliments the other. As far as machines ‘turning’ on humanity, perhaps we should clean up our own side of the fence first before projecting our own worst traits onto our high-tech toys.
Wrong.
“What is responsible for plant decomposition?
“By far the most important microscopic decomposers are bacteria, which do the lion’s share of decomposition in the compost heap. But there are other microscopic creatures such as actinomycetes, fungi, and protozoa, that also play an important role.”
That is a good movie! I saw it many years ago; but, since you brought it up I think I’ll watch it again. Thanks!!
It’s scary how prescient it has become...................
Pic #90 is like one of those “Ascent of Man” posters, but in reverse.
