Jeff Bezos announced on Monday that he and his brother will join the first crewed spaceflight from his private rocket company on July 20 — just 15 days after he is set to step down as chief executive of Amazon.
"Ever since I was five years old, I’ve dreamed of traveling to space," he wrote in an Instagram post. "On July 20th, I will take that journey with my brother. The greatest adventure, with my best friend."
In May, the Amazon founder's rocket company, Blue Origin, announced that its first flight aboard its New Shepard rocket, designed to carry up to six tourists per flight, would auction off one seat to the highest bidder.

Think Alice Kramden. Bang...Zoom!
Good point. They call me "Blennos" for a reason.
I hope he’s prepared to die, but I doubt that he is. Matthew 19:23,24
I agree. I do like Amazon. Now Bezos? Not so much. All that money turns these people into nuts.
Hell
They were nuts before.
Now that major manufacturers are getting wise to distributing their own stuff there is no way amazons main cash cow can last. He was a procurer of goods and a shipper of goods. Everyone can do that without him now.
It was a great idea....like ms/dos being given away free...
It would be sadly ironic if his next great idea blows up in his face. Sic transit gloria.
Oh Please let his space craft run out of fuel and drift off into space never to be recovered...
He’s a viper, even in business.
Do business with him, and he’ll rob you blind worse than any Chinese IP thief.
Not sure if I would get on the first flight of my new rocket. Cargo Dragon was a good idea to flight test the hardware before putting people in them.
If it does blown up on the pad or in flight, the Amazon stock price is going to take a pretty big hit.
Sorry, can't.
The spacecraft is going straight up, and will not have enough speed to escape the Earth's gravity. It will come straight back down, as it's designed to do.
The thing is, every test Blue Origin has done with New Shepard has been 100% perfect. Yes, I'll grant you that there's always the possibility of an equipment malfunction, but with actual passengers aboard, you know darn well they're going to triple-check everything, especially since thousands will be watching live on the Internet.
The most-likely cause of a problem may indeed be sabotage.
(Now, if you really want to go full-blown conspiracy-nut theory, try this on for size: He goes up there and something does happen, and they're all killed, live on YouTube. In the 'investigation' it's found that an 'employee shot himself' right after the incident. His apartment is searched, and found chock-full of American flags, conservative and Christian literature, and posters of...you guessed it...President Trump with "Trump 2024" flags all over the place. Can you guess what'd happen after that?)
To the moon, Alice, to the moon!
Make it a one way ticket.
Well, I admire his “put your money where your mouth is” attitude.
"another close one like that and it could be a bad day for mother"
I hope the bastard NEVER comes back!!!
That was a great story. I remember reading it years ago.
