A woman led authorities on a high-speed chase in Oregon — only for police to discover invasive snails inside the car when they finally caught up with her, police said.
Anastasia Dickey, 33, of Utah, was pulled over Wednesday in Fruitland, Ore., on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants, but allegedly sped off from the scene, the Argus Observer reported.
She led authorities west on Interstate 84 to Ontario, reaching speeds of 92 miles per hour, police said.
The cops attempted to deploy spikes to deflate her tires, but she continued until the vehicle became stranded on Union Pacific railroad tracks, the newspaper reported.
A search of the car turned up “a small amount of meth and in plain view, several snails,” police said.

Those invasive snails must be fast. The local snails would never be able to lead the police on a high speed chase, even if the snails were high on meth.

Fwiw, the woman would have been first pulled over in Fruitland, IDAHO, not Oregon.

I thought the speed limit on the I-84 was 80 mph, so how is 92 mph a high speed chase? That’s just passing speed.
Drove down that highway many times on my BC to Utah trips, once there was half a deer on the eastbound lanes, middle of night, lucky for me I was passing a truck.
I guess the speed limit drops to 60-70 through Boise, Nampa and Caldwell, but Ontario is back out into farmland and oh okay Oregon, the speed limits there are lower, they don’t want you to get away from the vibes.
Oregon is one of two states (I think) where by law they have to pump your gas, something I forgot one night in Burns OR on the way back from Nevada, just about knocked the poor kid over as I jumped out to pump my gas.

Last time I was in Oregon, for the eclipse in 2017, you could pump your own gas in some of the rural counties.
That’s why their gas prices were all over $2.30 per gallon before Biden stole the election, and are now approaching $4!
