Enbridge says the line is legally operating and State of Michigan has not shown anything actually wrong, they're just acting on a "future fear".
BTW this is the only line that supplies the refineries that make jet fuel for the airports in Toronto (North America's 10th busiest) and Detroit (20th busiest).
Both interstate and international commerce. No State has jurisdiction to control such commerce. Even if it happens to have a deranged idiot for governor.

Gretch doesn’t have the authority to shut this down (there are treaties) — but, I’m hoping it’s a wake up call for the smug, self-styled environmentalists in Ontario and Quebec, who have tried to shut down the Alberta oil industry, and as many other pipelines as they can. As Albertans used to say: let the Eastern bastards freeze in the dark.

Won’t work. The pipeline starts in Wisconsin and has its eastern terminus just barely within Ontario. The line 5 shutdown would kill everything downstream of lake Superior.

Can’t see how Governor Whitmer would have the authority to shut down the pipeline unless there was a natural disaster such as a hurricane or a tornado.
This pipeline is protected by a treaty ratified by the US Senate.... whitler and the state of Michigan have no authority....
