Ohio will lift the state mask mandate and all remaining coronavirus health orders except those for nursing homes and assisted living facilities on June 2, Gov. Mike DeWine said Wednesday evening.
DeWine said his decision to lift orders follows four weeks of declining coronavirus infections and hospitalizations and the Food and Drug Administration’s authorization to use the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in children age 12 and older. In the next three weeks, DeWine said, Ohioans will have ample opportunities to get vaccinated.
“The vaccine is here. Its stronger and better than medical experts ever imagined,” DeWine said. “Everyone can now control their own health. Everyone can now control their own destiny.”
DeWine, a Republican, said schools and businesses will be able to set their own requirements, including for masking and distancing, after the state orders end.
DeWine set a benchmark to lift remaining coronavirus health orders, including the mask mandate: 50 new cases per 100,000 residents during the past two weeks.
What’s wrong with “immediately”?
So three more weeks to do what? Slow the curve?

Ha yes, and Warren County Ohio, a heavily Pubbie place just announced no mask required in County buildings as of June 1st.
All of Arizona has no government mask mandate, and local ones are void. That has not stopped numerous businesses in places like Tempe from keeping up their invalid signs in addition to keeping private mask enforcement in play. I expect that from “Barnes and Noble” and even “Best Buy”, but “Ted’s Hot Dogs” remains masky. Do they not know the profile of a typical hot dog consumer?!
