Haverford students on strike after college officials' comments on Walter Wallace Jr.'s deathFor Haverford, an institution rich in liberal and Quaker ideals, the strike posed unprecedented challenges: How to balance concerns of Black students hurting badly amid a national reckoning over race with its obligation to provide an education for which many families pay more than $75,000 annually? How to deal with charges of bullying among young adults, while not silencing anger and protest? How to reconcile a campus divided not over the desire to end racism but over the strike itself, and how it was handled by school leaders?

Leftist journalists can say any kind of stupid, phony social-science-pseudo-psychological bullshit that comes to mind, and the public just accepts it.

It's worse. The public CRAVES it.

And when the turning comes, it will destroy the state and create a huge bloody mess.

As long as they keep running up their student loan tab, all is good.

“Rasaaq Shittu, 20, a strike organizer and sophomore from Williamstown, N.J., said he’s confounded by those who weren’t willing to sacrifice a little comfort and give up two weeks of class time.”

Lots of moms and dads had to work uncomfortably hard to come up with the $5,000 that two weeks of college education normally costs for their child.

“As long as they keep running up their student loan tab, all is good.”

It is my understanding that Haverford financial aid does not require student loans.

As long as the government checks keep coming in, all is well.

I went to Haverford. I used to donate money to them. Not another dime. I would be delighted if they closed.

"...As a Black male, Shittu never felt completely welcome at Haverford..."

Of this I am certain. Mr. Sh*t-You apparently wasn't there to learn, but to polish his black credentials for working with a multi-million corporation called "Black Lives Matter" when he graduated.

Mr. Sh*t-You For Brains is apparently an Economics major, and when he graduates, there probably won't be an economy to practice his communism and socialism on, so the best he can hope for is a gig to manage the affairs of the founders of Black Lives Matter, because they'll no doubt have money.

There is never a shortage of idiots, even starving ones, who will give money to grifters like them.

Ideally, a university education should equip students to recognize not only problems but realistic solutions to problems facing them, whether it is an engineering or medical problem or a social problem. There should be adequate introduction to the history of others who have faced and tried to solve the same social problems, especially those which didn’t work because of unintended consequences. And it should acquaint the students with civil means to address problems, such as legislation, the justice system, social sciences, economics.

Unfortunately it seems universities these days are fairly good at exposing problems, but it excels at inventing them out of whole cloth and stoking “righteous” indignation and resentment. How many of our “social studies professors” really know anything beyond pointing their fingers at others? Until the focus turns to civilly fixing or easing unfixable problems, the university will continue to be a bad investment for students, parents, donors and the government.

When Biden cancels all of the student loans I am going to feel like a real rube for making my kids attend state universities, major in fields that would actually get them jobs, and work their way through college so they could graduate without any debt.

At the linked article, there was one black guy who said he wasn't at Haverford to go on strike, but to learn and experience college:

"...Khalil Walker, 20, a sophomore philosophy major and lacrosse player from Brooklyn, was among students who didn’t take part in the strike — and, as a Black man, felt unique pressure because of it.

“The narrative was, ‘If you don’t care about the strike, you don’t care about Black lives,’ ” he said. “I didn’t come to Haverford to fight against the institution of America. I came to Haverford to get an education, do music and play my sport, and try to have a good time. Quite frankly, I feel that was taken from me by the strike.”

I have no doubt he was and is hassled by the Leftists of all colors and races on campus for "acting white".

“an institution rich in liberal and Quaker ideals”

For some reason, I have a feeling that their “Quaker ideals” these days have pretty much nothing to do with Jesus Christ.

While Shittu had to contend with people in his hometown displaying Confederate flags and using racial slurs, he found racism more subtle at Haverford. People touched his hair, misspelled his name, sang the N-word as part of a rap song when he was the only Black person in the room, and asked him why other Black people couldn’t be more like him and share his Nigerian culture. He felt like he was “on a job interview all the time,” he would later recall.

Someone spelled Rasaaq Shittu's name wrong?? A sure sign of racism. Calling Ben Crump!

How many ads have the phrase "...get what you deserve.." "You deserve this..." is anyone working for those monthly payments on cars, vacations, pricey homes etc.? How to keep you in debt and on the political plantation. If you are part of that fairy-tale world...you had better man the hell up!

Rasaaq Shittu

Poor Rasaaq. Besides his first name, he’s burdened by a last name as well.

So the blacks are presumably getting their privilege for a lot lower cost than the privileged offspring of the white folks. How about actually providing them a real education?
