I hope it’s okay that I’m coloring outside the lines. Instead of posting songs from the movie, I’m posting some that those kids were listening to but didn’t make it in the movie. :) It’s my favorite era of music, and I have most of these on a 45. Thank God for YouTube. I can find them much faster than going through boxes of vinyl.

Back in ‘73 before “American Graffiti” was released, we went to an advanced showing. My brother-in-law was an entertainer with a few connections and was given tickets to the showing. My husband and I went with his sister and her husband. I was 26, SIL was a couple of years older. We were Boomers. Our husbands were from the Greatest Generation. Age apparently factored in when we were rating the movie afterwards. Our husbands weren’t impressed and felt sure it would never really make it off the ground. My SIL and I LOVED it, and tried to convince them how wrong they were. We got the last laugh.

I’ve seen the movie several times. It’s fun to watch it with classmates and equate the characters with the kids from our class.

Yes, it’ll be another setback and we have more rain the second half of next week.
Apparently they haven’t been as soaked in the NE section of the state. They just mentioned on the news that there are two big wildfires in the mountains up there.

Yeah, Mother Nature needs to spread it around a bit better. LOL

As a friend of mine who later produced some music for Bruce said, Bruce Channel could sIng his ass off! And yes he could, and still can. And he settled into being a Nashville songwriter, and wrote a bunch of hits. Stand Up, Don’t Worry Bout Me Baby, and lots more. I know his talent, and don’t hope to see anyone try to refer to him as a one hit wonder.

Ah, man. I hate to hear that you’re having wildfires in part of the state again. I will never forget when Gatlinburg burned. I hope they have built it back, better than ever.

Thanks! That was so interesting. I wasn’t familiar with his work, so I looked him up and found this. I remembered when it hit the airwaves. Like “Sally/Roses,” it had such a unique sound that you were really drawn to it.

Yeah, I wasn’t happy to hear there are fires up there this early in the year. Iirc, they said one started on someone’s farm so they probably burned stuff on a windy day and it got away from them. Some people just aren’t very bright. You don’t burn on windy days.

I imagine they’ve built a lot of Gatlinburg back by now. I don’t know anyone who’s been up there to ask about it.
