Dana Walden, the chairman of entertainment for Walt Disney Television, recently said during a panel discussion that ABC passed on 'some incredibly well-written scripts' because they did not meet its new diversity standards.
Walden made the comments during panel discussion titled 'Women in Focus: Women, Big Tech and the Future of Hollywood' put on by Chapman University and Glamour on April 9, the Hollywood Reporter revealed.
Last year, the outlet reported that ABC was calling for at least 50% representation of 'underrepresented groups' in regular and recurring characters - as well as with writing staff and producers.

I think they pass on well-written scripts because people who don’t know how to write deserve a chance, too...or at least that’s the impression one gets from watching their programming over the last three decades. :)
I'm surprised that blacks were okay with the portrayal of the Africa army repeatedly yelling "Ooga booga" in unison right before the battle. It was like it was right out of a 1930's Tarzan movie.
All I know is that when I see commercials, I am led to believe that we are a majority Black Country, and all the doctors, dentists, veterinarians, pharmacists, executives, and business owners are black. And that all black homes are two parent homes. And that white males are buffoons who can’t do anything right, and that black men make ALL the right decisions. Does that about sum it up?
Oh, and I just noticed that black was capitalized on my previous comment. Looks like auto-correct is even in on the scam.
Interestingly, Disney does not have a racial quota for ticket buyers to its theme parks. We all know why that is.
Quality written has been done in over a decade.
I used to occasionally watch ABC. That must have been 25 years ago.....
Why I mostly watch foreign shows now.
N-i-c-e comeback.
Someone whose only knowledge of America comes from watching TV would have to think Blacks are 45% of the population and 40% of marriages are interracial black and white. And just who in Disney/ABC’s audience is craving for shows with this >50% diversity. I think it’s Disney and the rest telling us this is what we must want. Kind of like that ad for the credit app that shows two people, one a drop dead gorgeous 20 something gal, being brainwashed to use the garbage app. Admen always said that using TV they could sell Americans anything.
Right now I’m watching reruns of the old Perry Mason show. That was television!
Hollywood committing woke suicide. Okay by me.
Yes, America wants TV about the sex life of a TG abortionist and it’s sensitive pedophile friend.
Ditto. We don't watch much 'current' TV or movies any longer, either.
Making any product that appeals to only 50% or so of your potential audience seems like a pretty poor business decision..but the studios apparently only care about a social agenda and not actually turning out product people want to watch.
Walt Disney would be appalled at the way Disney is run today.
If he weren’t dead, he’d be spinning in his grave!
Even Roy Disney who died in 2009 would be. He left the company earlier because of this trend.

No, you missed all the gay couples. Have you seen the commercial for the AIDS medication that features...well, the gay men who need AIDS medication? When that commercial comes on I don’t care what I’m watching I’m outa there. It’s downright disgusting.
People will just stop watching when something is nothing but propaganda and not entertaining anymore.
