Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and husband of Queen Elizabeth II, has died at age 99, the royal family announced Friday.
Philip and the queen were married for more than 70 years, making him the longest-serving spouse of a reigning British monarch. He was the oldest-ever male member of the British royal family.
Philip was born on the Greek island of Corfu on June 10, 1921, to Prince Andrew of Greece and Princess Alice of Battenberg.

Forget all that. He might have been a racist. Throw him in a pit and leave him for the alley cats./s
Oh oh
Meghan back to the UK.
Not if he's made his peace with the Lord.
It doesn't get much better than 99 years and he's in a MUCH better place.
At least the term ‘hood rat’ was physically placed before his eyes.
Prince Philip. A lifetime of ‘Oime with ‘er” RIP.
How did he get through the era of cancel culture and only emerge dead?
I didn’t realize I liked this guy!
The man was Mountbatten’s creature.
A national security nightmare.
A rotten parent.
His progeny haven’t fallen far from the tree.
Philip didn’t get thrown overboard because he was useful.
Prince Phillip was a very good man, by the side of one of the most gracious ladies in the world.
There was a tale of The Queen and Prince Phillip on a state visit to Canada, while they were aboard Royal Canadian Navy ship. It was tea time, and the steward delivered the tea and biscuits to the royal stateroom. The steward had set down the tea and was about to serve the biscuits, when the ship gave a small lurch, and the biscuits scattered on the floor. The Steward, of course, was mortified, but Prince Phillip got down on all fours, and scooped up half the biscuits and placed them on the plate. He looked up at the Queen, and said, “These are mine. Yours are still on the floor.”
Exactly, he'd fit right in with the crowd I hang with.
(Except when he wanted a warm beer, that would be where we draw the line...)
I believe the dukedom of Edinburgh devolves to his son Edward.

I always liked him.
I’ve just finished watching the first two series of The Crown. He’s not portrayed very positively in those two series. Of course I don’t have the first clue how accurately any of the characters are portrayed.
My first thought, after chiding myself for spending more time thinking about the British royals at all, was how Meghan Markle was going to try to spin this to make it about her.
If true that’s about as funny as it gets!
RIP! he’s at peace now.
