Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg declared “there is racism physically built” into U.S. infrastructure during a Tuesday interview addressing President Joe Biden’s $2.25 trillion infrastructure proposal.

And who decided to put those racist highways where they are? The Federal government.
Actually, the cities were mostly WHITE when the Interstate System was designed. And by the way, the reason it could even be funded federally was because it was classified as a national defense priority for evacuating cities in the event of a pending nuclear war (back then, the feds had to actually justify spending money domestically), and because of that purpose, it HAD to go into the cities and the (then) white neighborhoods.
It was not the fault of the designers that the cities turned diverse, nor was it RACISM.

Actually, our bridges, railways and highways systems broke up racial enclaves. See, highways were built where real estate was cheap. That usually meant poor neighborhoods, which were often dominated by racial minorities. So the bad news was that communities were often split in two. But the good news is that the border between racial groups is almost always IN BETWEEN these divisions, and if you want cheap commercial real estate with access to wealthier/white clientele, you have to locate it nearer the poorer/minority homes.

Most people on the Left don't know why it's there but it sounds good when it's used as a virtue signal.
But the hardcore communists on the Left know why it's there. It's there to separate the country into two groups, "oppressed" and "oppressors."
Once most people are convinced that our system of government is oppressive to minorities, there won't be much resistance to getting rid of it in favor of a system of equal outcomes...communism.

The inner cities were already plenty heavily minority by the 1950s. But the interstates did help the less affluent move to the suburbs AND still work in the cities.
