Evangelical leader Franklin Graham believes Americans should get the COVID-19 vaccine. The missionary told CBS News that he thinks Jesus would want people to get their shots, and he's turning to Scripture and the parable of the Good Samaritan to make his case.
It's a case that will need to be made clearly if evangelicals — perhaps the most under-discussed group with high levels of vaccine hesitancy — can be persuaded.
"Jesus does tell the story of a man that was beaten and robbed and left for dead on the side of a road, and religious leaders walked past him and did not have compassion, they didn't get involved. But a Samaritan had compassion," Graham told CBS News in an interview. "And he immediately bandaged — he put oil and wine on his wounds and took him to an inn, and paid to have him cared for. Now the oil and wine were the medicines of that day… The vaccine is, to me, I believe, is saving life, and that's what Jesus Christ would want us to do, to help save life. It's just a tool to help save life."
Graham, the son of the late evangelist Billy Graham and grandson of a medical missionary in China, noted that the church has a long tradition of using medicine to help others. Last week, he told his 9 million Facebook followers that his international relief charity, Samaritan's Purse, had seen human suffering from COVID-19 "first-hand," and encouraged people to "talk to their doctor, and pray about it to determine which vaccine, if any, is right for them."

Just got my second dose today. There was a line a mile long.... literally. Fortunately they move you to the front of the line if it’s your second dose.
I’m inclined not to get the vaccine, in part because so many people are pushing it so hard.
That said, I pray FReepers don’t take this as an opportunity to “cancel” Franklin Graham. Too many FReepers are too easily triggered to “cancel” others.
Is Franklin also supporting the Mark of the Beast? (Vaccine Card)
AMEN!!! That is a HELL NO!!
just dang. the vaccine is wicked
I’m scheduled to get my first dose next week. If I was a 25 year old woman, I might not. But I’m a guy in his 60s who was vaccinated for everything under the sun while in the military, so I’m fine with it.
https://welovetrump.com/2021/04/04/40-reasons-not-to-get-the-vaccine/ I’m disappointed in Franklin Graham . . .let’s hope he hasn’t been compromised.
It’s crazy to equate this to something in the Bible, unless it was an example of overreaching government smiting Christians or Jews.
I would prefer he talk about the benefits of Vitamins (D3, etc? and minerals.
Pray about it. A relative’s father-in-law was fine for his age until two shots later . . . . The funeral is this week.

I believe in the short run the vaccine is safer than getting covid. 1000 dead after receiving the vaccine, 560,000 dead after getting covid. 30 million known cases in the US, vs 100 million have received the vaccine.
It's probably still safer to hermit. But there is some risk of contracting it, despite my advanced hermitting skills. My kids come and go. I get deliveries, I got to the grocery store. I occasionally have a date over to the house.
So I think I'm going to ask for the Pfizer vaccine. And if Bill Gates kills me, I'll never buy another Microsoft product.
He needs to stick to preaching the Gospel and quit giving medical advice.
I agree with you on both points.
I’m 64, and I put faith in GOD.
Nothing can change the date of my death. It was set in stone the day God thought the universe into existence.
I do not temp the LORD, but the way O look at it, tempting the LORD can also include taking a vaccine that has not been properly tested.
Try selling any drug that helps mankind with the same standards they did this vaccine, and the FDA will stop you dead in your tracks.
Thanks for sharing was yours Pfizer or Moderna and please describe experiences
Open everything.
Now.
That’s how to end the pandemic.
Whatever happened in trusting the Promises of PSALM 91?
Do the pharmaceuticals donate to SAMARITAN’S PURSE? Follow the money.
I’m not in a rush but plan to eventually get one especially when I may be called on to travel overseas to visit family. But what’s throwing me off are all the options. Each company’s shot does seem to differ...in mechanism or ingredients. And the Johnson’s factory debacle put me off of theirs even more.
Christians are supposed to “Test the Spirits” (1 John 4), “be Berean” (Acts 17), and never “go along with the multitude” to do evil (Exodus 23:2). Using aborted fetal cells to create vaccines is evil. Franklin Graham’s silent omission of this critical detail is deafening
