Delta and Coca-Cola face backlash from Republicans after opposing Georgia voting law
New York Times ^ | April 1 | By David Gelles

For two weeks, Delta Air Lines and Coca-Cola had been under pressure from activists and Black executives who wanted the companies to publicly oppose a new law in Georgia that makes it harder for people to vote. On Wednesday, six days after the law was passed, both companies stated their “crystal clear” opposition to it.

Now Republicans are mad at the companies for speaking out. Hours after the companies made their statements, Gov. Brian Kemp, a Republican, took aim at Ed Bastian, the chief executive of Delta, accusing him of spreading “the same false attacks being repeated by partisan activists.” And Republicans in the Georgia state legislature floated the idea of increasing taxes on Delta as retribution.

Remember how the left reacted to My Pillow’s CEO?

Hypocrites.

“They are making it hard for me to buy it.”

An employee I asked in Walmart said Diet Coke sourced many of its ingredients from China and has been having problems with production. Also said their contracts for cans involved China, which was why the store had plastic bottles but no cans. I’ve switched to Diet Pepsi, which is another woke company but I’ve seen no shortages affecting them. Looking for a no name diet soda but most of the no name store brand stuff here is all fructose, no diet.

Prefer Royal Crown (RC), getting hard to find. Not into the pepsi option. Coke is toast in my books.

Delta can go pound sand, mediocre at best.

It’s really sad that not one decision maker at Delta (who requires ID, and ‘real id’ from certain states to fly on their aircraft) or Coke, bothered to research the Georgia law before going postal

1) The Georgia law prevents political affiliated groups from handing out water “within 25 feet of any voter standing in line to vote at any polling place” or within “150 feet” of a designated polling place (this is to circumvent the game of political groups using water as an excuse to circumvent long-existing laws preventing campaigning within the perimeter of a polling place)
and
2) prevents ‘long lines’ to begin with, by allowing for absentee voting and extended days and hours for in-person voting. (there were no ‘long lines’ for either of the last two elections)
3) their own house rules that allow employees up to 2/3 hours paid leave to go vote, which (in my day) people would take either at the start of their workday or the end of their workday.

The finest diet sodas are the 2ltr bottles of Kroger brand.

The cola is excellent, if a bit below actual Coke in taste.
The Dr Pepper clone is better than Diet Dr Pepper and the diet ginger ale is the best I ever found.

And they are cheap at like .88 ea

Then ban ID for anything, no one needs one for a thing, we will take your word on who you are.

Did these two CEOs do this on their own or did they get board approval?

If I was a shareholder in either of these companies, I would fire off a letter to the board chairman asking why is the CEO risking shareholder value?

I let Delta and Coca-Cola know that as editor of a small business newsletter here in AZ (550 companies, medium to large size) that I was putting out an extra edition this week and advocating for my subscribers, (many of whom travel regularly) to boycott their product/service.

DELTA AIRLINES CUSTOMER SERVICE
(800) 221-1212 (long wait times)

DELTA COMMUNICATIONS LINE (most effective)
(404)715-2554

COCA-COLA CUSTOMER SERVICE
(800) 438-2653

C.C. MEDIA INQUIRIES (message, most effective, no wait time)

I would be very interested to know what the political affiliation is for the Delta and Coke EEOs. My guess is that they are both Democrats just supporting the Democrat play bood but trying to make it look like they don’t have a political affiliation.

I suppose you can fly Delta without a Ticket or ID now right? It is in FACT, RACIST to ask for either.

“nd Republicans in the Georgia state legislature floated the idea of increasing taxes on Delta as retribution.”

First that I’ve heard of a tax increase as retribution. How’s that work, higher income taxes for Delta employees, or perhaps make them pay more in property taxes, or sales taxes?

If showing ID by black people is offensive, Delta should demand that no black travelers flying on Delta needs to show any photo ID’s to the TSA.

wanted the companies to publicly oppose a new law in Georgia that makes it harder for people to vote.

I think they (accidently-on-purpose) left out the word "illegally".
