Here is what I tell people who freak out after I tell them that.
“Now you all think on this.”

No more obnoxious federal laws. Simply take the present constitution and amend the mistakes the founders made when they passed it-like term limits. Then, amend it so the only way the federal government may tax for revenue is through foreign import and export taxes-that controls trade. The STATES collect taxes through excise, the only way they can tax, and if there is anything left, they kick whats left over to the federal government. No state, can tax income of ANY KIND.

That alone will, in a very short time, make the new republic the richest country on earth. That and base the currency on a commodity-like silver. Only spend this year what revenue is brought in last year...a balanced budget.

That and amend the constitution so that the new republics federal government has to follow the enumerated powers strictly.

He said “needed improvements to roads, bridges and transit systems”. So the lions share will be wasted on the public transit money pit, and other useless garbage like bike paths and dedicated bus lanes.

No worries, they’ll offer gubmint housing, and food in exchange for your “selfish” desire to earn you own dough.

My wife and I drive approximately 40k per year averaging 15mpg. That works out to over 1200 per year in state and federal gas taxes. We also have a sunpasses for Florida and EZ passes for the northeast; another 500 or so per year. That seems like more than enough to me.
