The US military is shifting its focus from asymmetric wars in the Middle East to near-peer rivals.
Those rivals, namely Russia and China, have had two decades to see how the US fights and find ways to counter its strengths.
After nearly two decades of counter-terror operations around the world, the United States military has recently begun shifting its focus away from this form of asymmetric warfare and back toward the potential for near-peer conflicts with nations like China or Russia.
Despite maintaining the most powerful military apparatus on the globe, this pivot won't be without its challenges. Over the past 19 years, the United States military has funneled the majority of its funding into combat operations and new technologies that support the counter-terrorism endeavor.
During this time, national opponents like China have had ample opportunity to observe the way America's military operates, and find cost-effective methods of countering the US's most significant strengths.

Oh no, think of the profits from a new slew of military contractors!
was this NOT the technologies privately SOLD to China
by the CLINTONS in the ‘90s including every pending
US patent application?
nothing to see here. just like the caged children
on the EVERGREEN ships.
just like the Davy Crockett transfer
prior to the CLINTON BenGhazi Atrocity.
nothing to see here.
now go away. [just like the DO”J” has done for DECADES.]
It points out the stupidity of distracing ourselves in the war on terror. Not only did we expend resource on the wrong things, but worse, we created a class of entitled swamp rats who are raking off money to maintain the ability to support low intensity conflict in empty desserts, making it difficult to say, ok, we got it wrong. Let's fix our problem. To fix the problem you need a Tsar Bomba to take on the greater DC swamp so you can even start doing the right things.
As I just posted, fixing this requires spilling the rice out of the rice bowels of hoard of military contractors who have no ability to do anything high tech. Want to house 5000 civilian support personnel in some 3rd world SH, they are your guys. Want a new hypersonic laser guided rocket - they cannot even spell the words.
This is the title on Amazon and it's $6.99 for the Kindle ebook. But, just for you, because you are my FRiend, it's available at the OODA site for a special price of FREE download!
I still can’t believe we scrapped the F22 Raptor for MRAPs. I’ll never get over that. There had to be another way.
Really need to get the SAM-6 1b fielded and tested and IMPROVED...Also need mobile batteries of these all over the South Pacific. The first places struck will be Guam and Australia. With having a limited range, they are really only defensive for a limited area. A broad range/theater wide AMD system needs and alternate communications system needs to be developed freaking PRONTO!
Yes, but not just the Clintons, the DNC was fully involved as well.
We our financing our own destruction.
The Chinese missile is just one more of their tools to do it.
We should not be buying ANYThING Chinese.
There are a lot of things we should and should not be doing but, our country is just blindly walking to our own destruction.
The MRAPS are utilized domestically whereas the F22 Raptors are off shore weapons.
Can’t remember where I read it but the AF is testing a Rocket capable of mach 20.
I have no idea if this is really their plan but it makes sense to me if you are going to war with someone with a much larger military but you have the advantage of being sneaky, devious, and amoral.
“The US military is shifting its focus from asymmetric wars in the Middle East to near-peer rivals”
It was a stupid shift in the first place.
Simple solution: We all need to learn Chinese. /s
Just like Spanish was useful for those commanding a crew of braceros...understanding Mandarin will be good for those taking orders.
Defeat the Chinese the same way we defeated the Japanese, destroy their merchant shipping.
Sink 50 merchant ships and no more will even attempt to sail to Chinese ports. And, that is the end of the Chinese Economy and the CCP.
Post 15 is good on CCP military doctrine. The Chinese will attack our overseas bases and our homeland with hacking and electronic attacks that don’t cause widespread physical damage but mess up our command & control, plus mess up our infrastructure.
In our US, the civilians are like panicked babies when their lights, cell phones and twitter/facebook accounts go down. When the supermarkets and transportation is messed up, everyone will panic. The federal and state governments will be so busy hand holding, these won’t be able to respond to the Chinese attack. Peace, not war will be our reason to surrender to the Chinese.
