Cumulus Media and Westwood One have agreed to terms with conservative commentator Dan Bongino to host a daily three-hour show from 12-3pm eastern.
Bongino currently hosts a daily podcast for Westwood One that since March 2020 has been repurposed into a one-hour syndicated show on over 100 stations including 790 KABC Los Angeles and 560 KSFO San Francisco.
The new show would air live in the timeslot currently held by Limbaugh on many if not all Cumulus owned Conservative Talk and News Talk stations.
Bongino is a former NYPD officer and Secret Service agent turned conservative pundit and investor in digital properties including Parler and Rumble. He has previously served as a fill-in host at WMAL Washington and WBAL Baltimore and multiple syndicated talkers including Sean Hannity.
An official announcement should be forthcoming by early next week.
You can get most any show streaming on radio station websites wherever you are.
Regardless, Citizen Free Press created a very misleading headline, and it should be corrected.
“Dan Bongino is NOT ‘replacing’ Rush.”
bttt
Agree, it should have said:
Dan Bongino to replace Rush Limbaugh on Cumulus Stations............
I thought Steyn would have been a shoe-in for this job. I’ve never listened to Bongino but will give him a try.
Yep. It happens. People stick to the Stones while not knowing about other bands that write and play better.
I question the reporting of this. I thought Premier broadcast Rush’s show. Could this be an attempt to grab audience without being the recipient of the “Golden EIB microphone”? Rush’s website has nothing about it. Could be PR.
Bongino will not cause me to stop what I am doing to tune in every day. Mark Steyn has that draw for me. He is funny and straight to the point. Much more in line with Rush’s style. Another thing, Bongino has never, at least recently, subbed for Rush. I am doubting and hoping Steyn gets the job. Otherwise I will listen to podcasts but it will not be the same.
“I like Dan. I think he’ll do well. Much better than Erik Ericsson.”
That wouldn’t be difficult. Where is Ericsson on air? Not around here.
This applies only to Cumulus owned Radio stations, like ours. They own a lot of stations:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cumulus_Media
As of June 2019, Cumulus lists ownership of 428 stations in 87 media markets.
Bongino is all about “win in 2022!” - nearly all politics. But it’s not possible that politics will matter anymore.
Rush was more of a culture warrior, and can never be replaced in talent, but even he was not enough.
The more the talking turns to Christianity, the better chance we all have.
As several have said, I was also hoping for Mark Steyn. But after maybe one or two days on the air after Rush’s passing, Steyn seemed to disappear from the guest host rotation. Never heard any explanation during the occasional times I listened.
Before Rush died, Dan and Rush had become the only ones I followed. Sean was too vanilla. Sometime Levin if in the car at night. However, since Rush passed, Dan was it for me. He has a gift for ridiculing progressives in a way that drives the point home.
Dan’s comments re the Washington Post “mistake” were brutal in the extreme if you bother to listen to the entire 30 minutes dedicated to it. Also, very funny if you enjoy libs being completely exposed and made fun of.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets at least 500 or more of Rush’s stations to start with.
He announced the other day that he’s now cancer-free.
Bongino is fine, but this is a bit disappointing.
At the risk of being insensitive, Rush was terminal for about a year. I was hoping that during that time there were some sort of planning for a host or group of hosts to carry on the EIB flagship. I’ve been a Rush 24/7 member for years, and routinely listen to the download version of the show. Just don’t see myself downloading and listening to Bongino.
We’ll see, hopefully we’ll see or hear some new voices emerge.
Me too. I was hoping it would be Steyn.

My preference would be Chris Plante. who does a 3-hour talk show on WMAL-DC. He’s out of my listening area but I’ve heard him enough to say he’s not shy about taking the whip to the left on a daily basis.
I’m a big Chris Plants fan too. He needs a bigger footprint.
but he will need more filler material.

Taking more phone calls should do the trick. One thing I like about Michael Savage is that he’ll take calls from the enemy and tear them apart, or at least he used to when I listened to his show in D.C. around 2005-2010.
That must be why I’ve not heard of him before now.

LMAO. You were reading my mind!

That brit filling in from time-to-time for Rush is pretty good. I’m primarily a reader though.
