People may have lost some interest in politics after The Year That Was, but they’ve lost more of it at CNN than at its competitors. Variety reports that all of the Big Three cable news networks have seen significant declines over the last three months, although Fox News Channel has managed to hold the decline down to single digits. CNN, however, has seen their prime-time viewership drop dramatically over the last three months, and Variety chalks that up to the disappearance of CNN’s favorite prime-time punching bag (via Twitchy):
Our prediction that audiences would perk up for President Trump’s second impeachment trial proved correct. But in the weeks after the trial ended, audiences for CNN have plummeted; MSNBC is seeing about half CNN’s drop, while Fox News is down single digits. While the left-leaning networks may be losing steam without the ability to feed off of Trump being in office, conservative audiences have found new focal points for their concerns. …
Beginning first with total audience, it’s clear that CNN is the network that misses Trump the most. Trump-bashing tirades lack their zip with their protagonist taking on a much lower profile post-election, with “CNN Tonight with Don Lemon” and “Anderson Cooper 360” seeing their average audience in the first week of March one-third lower than the first week of December.
CNN isn’t the only network to see declines, but they are the most pronounced. MSNBC’s drops are around half of what CNN saw, with Chris Hayes (-16.7%) and Lawrence O’Donnell (-17.6%) seeing steeper declines than total primetime news leader Rachel Maddow (-9.1%).

I guess folks don’t want to tune in to hear superfluous words of
praise for Joseph Stolen seven days per week.
Especially when you see him nodding off mid-speach, and CNN
will describe it as a power nap.
Watching them thrash Trump is apparently more entertaining than watching the fellate Biden and the dems.
The CABLE NEWS NETWORK...Cable is far gone, they need to re imagine...Cable is over... and so is CNN.
Never saw that coming, nope, not at all...lol
Fox probably can’t go much lower.
Trump predicted this. He also predicted declines in circulation for the NY Times and other media outlets.
I haven’t had tv in more than a month now. I miss it, and now I’m able to get it going. Comcast is a royal PIA to deal with. Good lucking asking for service and getting someone to help whom you can understand.
I have a new 64” Samsung still in the box, and a new unassembled cabinet/stand to put it on. I had to get the latter because I needed something long enough to take that large a tv. I’ve been trying to contact Best Buy’s Geek Squad to do it, but I’ve yet to be able to set up an appointment. At least I talked to a real human the last time I called. He said he would connect me to someone with flesh and blood and almost did, but the automated system would not connect me without the serial number of the tv. Fortunately I found it on the box and am ready to try again, maybe Monday.
FNC is still the best cable news channel to watch.
I think Fox could go lower if the so called Trump supporters, who said they would never again watch Fox, had kept their word.
I’ve kept my word for the most part, only watching maybe 1/2 hour of Fox and Friends over the past 4 months or so.
FNC has always had a decent percentage of Dem viewers. My bet is the ones leaving aren’t.
BTW, if you really want to aid in the effort to stick it to Fox News, you have to do more than turn it off.
You have to cut the cord.
Exactly the same for me!
Haven’t had TV in 8 years. I feel much better for it. Bunch’a crap.
CC
Stevie Wonder say he saw that comin’ ten miles ago . . .
Have zero interest in mainstream news. The US media will not acknowledge that this was obviously a stolen election.
Trying wean my sister in law off the propaganda, she still thinks Fox News is right-leaning.
I’ve switched to Newsmax and enjoy it. Not as slick as Fox, and I’m not saying Fox can’t be “fair and balanced,” but it has the look and feel I thinkFox should have, and lacks the nominally GOP haters of a certain very popular former President
Each to their own. I wouldn’t watch FNC again even if they sent me a check to each month. I want Fox to die.
I am working on cutting the cord.
Done! I left TV 20+ years ago. But its effects are pervasive. People talk about what’s on it constantly. Even on the radio. And on the internet(!) You can’t miss it because enough people won’t shut up about it.
Hope you stay at it. ;>)
