I loved the Rush Limbaugh show. I have been listening to it for years and have always been comforted by his ever-increasing audience. It showed that conservative ideas work. The show serves a purpose — a purpose that we need fulfilled more now than ever. Unfortunately, it is not serving that purpose fully now. Rather than building on his legacy, we are wallowing in the sadness of his loss.
The guest hosts are very good — especially Mark Steyn — but the show is deteriorating into a daily homage to Rush. Any tangential relationship with current subject matter is immediately met with a lengthy clip of Rush, showing how right he was. We know that — he told us every day.
The hosts are effusive in their constant praise. It seems they are in dread fear of anyone thinking they presume to be his equal. No one is, no one is trying to be, and no one ever will be. Rush would be the first to say this.
The problem is that the show is getting a little maudlin. Not good. More than not good.
When I tune in, I am likely to hear Rush's voice. Many of the callers the staff selects still have teary testimonials about his meaning in their lives. The testimonials and the Rush clips are all from the past. Rush's only interest in the past was the altering and erasure of American history by the left. The radio show was never about the past; it was about the urgency of the present and the future.
The show is an enormous asset to its owners and to America. With over 20 million listeners who have learned to expect the unadulterated facts every day, it is a treasure without equal.

Here in Dallas, they still have the “Kidd Kraddick Show”, even though Kidd Kraddick passed away in 2013.
Wouldn't that fry the left's remaining brain cell, that a black woman would take it over! And—her father-in-law is in the British House of Lords—take that, Harry. I'd be a daily listener.
Not a bad idea at all! Would love to hear him host.
The difference is, Rush was a one-man show, while Crowder feeds of his other cohorts. I especially like when Dave Landau is on.
Dave Ramsey’s financial advice is sound, but can be reduced to two Powerpoint slides. Repeated over and over. . . .
Same for me. Candace Owens would be terrific!
I don’t tune into his station any more, as it’s become a 24/7 dirge channel. I need to hear some current ongoing stuff instead of the constant look backward. We all miss Rush, we all admire his courage at the end, but now it’s time for a new and currently useful chapter. I’m sure he would want it that way. Let the new host be a fount of useful information for conservatives once again.

If there is to be a new, permanent host, I pick Mark Steyn, but I'm not at all sure he wants the job. Some of his comments made me think he believes the job would require too much work, whatever the salary.
But there will always be a way for Rush fans to listen to him, correct? Via Rush 24/7?
Perhaps they will get a host that can do a show 4 days a week and then a best of Rush on Friday, or every other Friday. Much of what Rush talks about transcends the current day/year.
I am like what someone posted upthread. I turned on the show today and listened for about 2 minutes. Not a fan of the current host. Just doesn't click for me.
Then, their prominent talk shows show should be retitled as:
-PJ
I have already stopped listening. Put Trump on a couple of times a week, and then DJT Jr a couple times a week.
but no Mark Steyn......
Agreed. We have mourned the great Rush. Now time to get back into the information warfare fight.
I’ve already made the switch to Dennis Prager.
+1
Fingers Crossed. Steyn would be beyond excellent as host.
Part of the reason Steyn is so effective is that he really studies the issues. A surprising number of hosts just bash the left and that doesn’t move the needle with anyone that needs convincing to move away from woke-culture socialism to free-market capitalism.
I was hoping that President Trump would be made interim host while a permanent replacement is found. For example, have Trump do Tuesday-Thursday and try out replacements on Mondays and Fridays.
Trump would benefit by having the exposure and he'd hang on to the audience better than anybody else out there.
The EIB network will lose its advertising appeal in the near future. There is no better than Rush! His presence is NO match on radio. I have not heard anyone on the radio or his sub hosts, in conservative format that is even close to him.
Who will accept the Rush radio time slot and legacy? In my humble opinion, it will be years. Will require a person of thick skin and no apologetics!
