Evangelical Christians, who once were content with staying out of earthly concerns, have grown into an influential subset of American politics. Not all who identify with this label vote in unison. They voted in large numbers in 1976 for Jimmy Carter, but reversed course in 1980 and went for Ronald Reagan. In subsequent elections, a majority has voted for Republican candidates.
In the 2020 election, this subset created a new subset. They called themselves "Pro-life Evangelicals for Biden." Their members include Jerusha Duford, the granddaughter of the late Reverend Billy Graham -- the evangelist who came to regret his involvement in politics and his troublesome association with Richard Nixon -- and thousands of pastors and other influential Christian leaders.
The group acknowledged that while Biden did not support their primary issue -- that of protecting unborn human life -- he was "more consistent with the biblically shaped ethic of life than Donald Trump."
After observing Biden for less than two months in office, the group issued a statement. It said evangelicals and Catholics "feel used and betrayed," especially as it relates to the president's recently stated opposition to the Hyde amendment (which Biden supported for years), which prevents taxpayer funding for abortions.
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, a socially conservative organization based in Washington, issued his own statement: "They can't say they weren't warned. Everyone in America knew where Joe Biden stood on abortion -- because he told them. In 13 debates, multiple campaign ads and a Planned Parenthood town hall, no one had any doubt that if this man won the White House his folksy faith talk would take a backseat to his political deal with the far left. If Evangelicals for Biden want to say they never saw this COVID bill and its abortion funding coming, they were the only one."
Two things about this. Liberal Christians like to speak of other issues, such as immigration (how's that going for them?), the environment and helping the poor, along with personal character qualities as having equal importance -- and for some, greater importance -- than abortion. The problem with that argument is that the right to life is the most fundamental of rights. It is mentioned first in the Declaration of Independence. If you can't be born, nothing else matters.
Second, Evangelical Christians are called to devote themselves to a higher kingdom and King that is not of this world. Just as Scripture says one cannot serve God and money, neither can one equally serve God and temporal political kingdoms that soon pass away.
Here are some reminders for people who may not have heard sermons on the topic. Paul writes, "We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. (1 Corinthians 2:6). John the Apostle put it this way: "Do not love the world or anything in the world. ... The world and its desires pass away..." (1 John 2:15-17)
These and other verses don't prohibit one from voting, but they do call for the right priorities and for not "marrying" one's self to a political leader or party.
Pro-Life Evangelicals for Biden might have learned from recent history and how identifying one candidate and claiming he (or she) are more favorable to God and to Christian voters than another is a form of idolatry and ultimately futile.
Humankind's greatest needs are less economic and political than spiritual and moral. No politician can redeem the soul, though Biden vowed to "restore the soul of America."
Pro-Life Evangelicals for Biden should have known better than to bargain with the abortion devils. Because they chose to ignore the above and similar verses, they are now suffering from buyer's remorse.
Democrats support as the majorparty plank ; infanticide
For those of you in Rio Linda, they want to murder babies
If you’re a Christian and a true Christian there’s no way that you should be able to trust yourself into a pretzel to support these demon loving ghouls
I’m not even gonna start down the road of child rape and the sex cult aspects of these politicians
Positively Satanic; pure unadulterated evil. People can't be this stupid, and still be able to function in the world.
“...identifying one candidate and claiming he (or she) are more favorable to God and to Christian voters than another is a form of idolatry and ultimately futile.”
Absolutely a stupid thing to believe and write. Some candidates are in fact more favorable to God and to Christians. He must have never heard of Constantine.
The rat party, as I refer to it was founded by Andrew Jackson and Martin van Buren
It makes no sense whatsoever
Just another bunch of LOSERS who didn’t bother to take the time to find out just who they were supporting.
It’s SICKENING to have to watch so many in this the country go through this ‘learning curve’ at the expense of ending this country as it was. It’s really no different than the Jews happily getting into the box cars, well-dressed, with their suitcases in hand, and thinking all was fine and telling that to each other...only to realize what the deal was, but a bit too late.
The left relied on this huge block of voters ‘sophisticated whites’ being too politically stupid, and too arrogant, to be able to comprehend just what they were voting for...and it worked out PERFECTLY for them.
Pro life Evangelicals for Bidet? As idiotic as Jews for Shitler😖😖🤬
To be fair, I have seen the same kind of "logic" used on our side by "pro-life" people proudly supporting abortion-on-demand candidates on the GOP side.
For example, here in Illinois, we had a bunch of self-declared "pro-life Tea Party leaders" endorsing vehemently pro-abortion Bruce Rauner for Governor in 2014. They didn't simply just support him in the general election over a pro-abortion RAT, but many of them were pimping him in the PRIMARY over three pro-life Republicans.
If you confronted them about that, they'd make excuses like "the Governor doesn't have the power to do anything about abortion anyway, so it doesn't matter in this election" or "This is NOT the time to talk about SOCIAL issues! Illinois is a fiscal mess. Let's get our state budget under control and THEN we can worry about abortion!"
Predictably, Rauner governed exactly as he said, and happily signed into law some bill funding more abortions with taxpayer money. This was no surprise, Rauner had made no attempt to hide his position during the election and even took out a full page ad pledging to "protect a woman's right to choose".
But, to the "pro-life Tea Party leaders" who had pimped Rauner and foisted him on us, not one of them was willing to admit they sold their souls to get Rauner in office. A lot of them pretended nobody knew Rauner was pro-abortion when he ran, or even that he somehow ran as a pro-life candidate and "misled" them and "betrayed" them. A few even pretended there were "no other options" for Governor back then and that they HAD to vote for Rauner "because Quinn would have been worse". Of course, we all know that wasn't the case, I remember them gleefully pimping him in the primary over proven pro-life candidates.
Shaking my head.
Pro-Life Evangelicals are neither pro-life nor evangelical. Biden was campaigning on “codifying abortion into law”. Those people are idiots.
The left is attempting to redefine the meaning of “pro-life” - example here from a former “Pastor” that tweets incessantly :
https://johnpavlovitz.com/2020/12/11/the-american-myth-of-pro-life-republican-christians/
Having Progressive “Pastors” make these attempts to confuse people and redefine terms is really concerning, as they seem to be working.
The leaders in the Democratic party cannot be trusted (and most in the Republican party are the same)...
But salvation does not rely on your political party. Jesus said he came to seek and save the lost. By his wounds we are healed. Jesus offers salvation to everyone. If your Jesus does not, he is not the Jesus of the Bible and that may be a problem for you, forget Joe Biden.
They voted how they wanted to vote and if the same vote were to happen again today, given what they “know” today, they would vote the exact same way. Their so called buyers remorse does not really exist.
My Mother used to say “some People are so smart, they’re stupid”.
It wasn’t just the Left side of the Intelligence Curve that Voted for Joementia Xiden, it was People most of us would consider educated and reasonable.
Instead, these same People Voted for a Man with obvious onset Dementia who espoused the most Radical Agenda in the History of the Republic. In fact, they still defend anything and everything the Xiden / Commiela Regime implements.
As I’ve said before I don’t know what’s worse, the DEMONCRATS stealing the Election or a Majority of People actually Voting these Traitorous Bastards into power.
Rauner. What a treasure.
Ain’t no such thing as a social leftist who’s an economic Conservative. Nothing costs more than a socially leftist agenda, both in dollars and culturally, morally & ethically.
Some folks never learn. Some simply don’t want to.
Naah, not fools. They were liars and con-artists furthering an agenda of evil.
She’s certainly no Christian. Especially someone who worships Princess Sparkles.
How “nice” was Jesus when he was flipping over tables ? These people are delusional. Not Christians.
BTW, do they think molesting kids is “nice” ? Guess they couldn’t bear to watch the video evidence of Plugs the Pedo.
Evangelicals and all Christians who voted for Biden are lukewarm apostates who have been excised from the Body of Christ!
