The debate over competition of transgender individuals in sports with persons of their opposite, biological “assigned” sex at birth has been gaining traction over the past few years, but particularly since President Biden’s executive order allowing transgender individuals to play on sports teams of their choosing.
While the notion of substantial physical differences between biological men and biological women is obvious to most, a deep physiological analysis can further help us to better understand the differences between the sexes and, therefore, how forcing the two sexes to physically compete can be harmful, particularly to women.
It is a scientific fact that humans, like all other mammals, have one male and one female parent. The result of mammalian mating produces offspring that are either male or female. There are no other sexes or genders.
There is also no denying the fact that males and females have unchangeable and distinct physical and psychological characteristics.
One such distinction is the structure of their skeletal systems. While it is commonly known that women generally have larger pelvic regions for birthing and men generally have more pronounced shapes in the jawline of the skull, the differences go deeper than that.
Sexual differences in bone structure emerge during adolescence. The development of one’s skeletal system is influenced primarily by the increase of hormones and, to a lesser extent, by nutritional intake. For males, the increase of testosterone and IGF-1 (insulin growth factor) causes rapid muscle mass and strength growth. For women, their increase in estrogen provides bone minerals and higher increase in bone mass in relation to muscle mass.

k.....never mind.
That said, even though I am dead set against women in combat in the military, I have no problem if women want to try to compete in men's professional sports, except for one thing: even with the profit motive at stake, idiots like Mark Cuban and such will use it as a marketing thing. I will never be on merit alone. Ever.
And, if men wanted to compete in women's sports, it would destroy them, but...who really cares if there is no WNBA or Women's Soccer. They are inferior products no matter how you view them. Women would never be able to be in military special forces as they are currently constituted. And they should never be in combat units. But that battle is over.
They will simply lower the standards until women can get in. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.
I laugh every time you post that graphic...:)
It’s absurd to have men and women, boys and girls competing at any sport beyond the most rudimentary, just-for-fun level. Can women compete against me in tennis? Sure, because I don’t play tennis. Can high school girls swim or run faster than me? Plenty of ‘em undoubtedly can. But that’s not the point.
The point is that the average girl/woman of same age & dedication to the sport isn’t going to be competitive with the average boy/man.
Does anyone truly believe that women are kept out of playing in the NFL or NBA or MLB or NHL due to gender bias? There’s simply not a single woman in the world capable of being even the most marginally capable participant in those leagues. At some level, everyone understands this. And yet with youth sports, many liberals think it’s perfectly fine to let boy who pretends to be a girl be on the girls’ track teams, etc.
The girl horses (fillies) do not race the boy horses (colts). There are a few cases of great fillies beating the boys but they are few and far between. Zenyatta was the last when she won the breeders cup in 2009. Another great filly is Rachel Alexandra, she won the Preakness also in 2009. Which forced Zenyatta into the breeders cup since both were trying to win Horse of the year. Rachel got it in 2009 but Zenyatta won the honors in 2010.
If she’s playing out of her class, that’s her problem.
I know women who, in the right men’s sport, and in the right class if there is one, could compete successfully against a lot of men.
I’m not saying she’d always won, but if she can compete, why stop her?
Part of why women want to do this is that women that good have mediocre competition when playing against other women.
There’s no challenge.
And none at all if there’s not a comparable sport to play for women.
In the three event Mongolian version of their Olympic Games (held during the annual Naddam Festival, women are freely allowed to compete with the men.
In archery, they can do well, in horse racing they have a shot (but only kids are jockeys), but when it comes to wrestling, Forget about it.
So does competitive shooting.
:)
Yes... they “can” but the performance and statistics are completely not compatible on team sports or even individual sports like Decathalons.
No woman is going to be a full back against 400lb men.
Other sports - sure.
Golf, tennis, archery could all be coed.
It’s an interesting article I would like to have read in its entirety, but most of it is behind a login. Anyway, the point is obvious to anyone who is not besotted with Marxist ideological fervor. That the notion there are more sexes than male and female is taken seriously in our supposedly advanced era just highlights how far we regressed.
In reference to the chart you posted, there is another consideration.
If women are stretching their natural limits more than the men, to achieve the same physical performance, how would their injury rate and career longevity compare?
I talked with a lady whose daughter passed the Army’s grueling Ranger Course, and served a tour in the 82d Airborne Division. Unfortunately, she had to get out of the Military before earning a retirement, because her body was too banged up.
Really. Back in the day your PT score was a pretty big deal. Guess not anymore?
As my friend once said years ago, “I wouldn’t watch a WNBA game if they were playing in my backyard.”
The US Women’s Soccer Team couldn’t beat a decent D-1 men’s team. https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/a-dallas-fc-under-15-boys-squad-beat-the-u-s-womens-national-team-in-a-scrimmage/.
The best women’s tennis player on earth would probably be ranked in the top 700 on the men’s circuit.

“Karsten Braasch v the Williams Sisters
During the 1998 Australian Open, sisters Serena and Venus Williams boasted that they could beat any man ranked outside the world’s top 200. The challenge was accepted by Karsten Braasch, a German player ranked No 203 (his highest ranking was No 38). Before the matches, Braasch played a round of golf in the morning, drank a couple of beers, smoked a few cigarettes, and then played the Williams sisters for a set each, one after the other. He defeated Serena, 6-1, and Venus, 6-2. Serena said afterwards “I didn’t know it would be that hard. I hit shots that would have been winners on the women’s tour and he got to them easily.”
A WNBA dunk contest would be horrible to watch. This is just biology and you can’t change it.
Women’s sports is now effectively over. All that’s needed is a single high school boy to join every girls’ team for every sport per state.
There will never again be a female state champion in any sport, and therefore no college recruitment of women or scholarships for NCAA Div 1 (it’s a different question if that should even happen, but for now it does). Team sports for girls helps build leadership and teamwork skills.
There are males and there are females, and I suppose if there was a third category I might called it “confused”. But confused is either male or female.
It won't be long until people will laugh that any discussion even occurred.
Hey trans genders, go compete in men's sports all you want, which is the way it will be soon, but (not) soon enough.
I'm not so sure about that. The loony left has a stranglehold on the culture.
There are a few cases of great fillies beating the boys but they are few and far between.
Back when I was a semi-serious runner (mile to marathon, 20 or more races a year for several years) my goals were to win an age group award and to beat or do well against the first woman. Because she typically was an outstanding athlete and usually ten or more years younger than I was (started racing in my mid-30s).
Yes but men historically do better at steeplechase etc
Maybe women do better at dressage ....not sure
Women don’t drive equally in racing....except in drag racing
