Mike Pence Breaks His Silence on Election

Too little too late… we don’t want to hear it…
Former Vice President Pence on Wednesday criticized the 2020 election in his his first extended written comments since leaving office in January.
Pence said there were “significant voting irregularities” and “numerous instances of officials setting aside state election law” in the 2020 presidential election.
The remarks were offered by Pence in an op-ed published by the Daily Signal, a publication run by the conservative Heritage Foundation. The context was an attack on H.R. 1, a voting rights bill the House is expected to pass on Wednesday, that Pence said would “increase opportunities for election fraud.”
" “Many of the most troubling voting irregularities took place in states that set aside laws enacted by state legislatures in favor of sweeping changes ordered by governors, secretaries of state, and courts.”“While legislators in many states have begun work on election reform to restore public confidence in state elections, unfortunately, congressional Democrats have chosen to sweep those valid concerns and reforms aside and to push forward a brazen attempt to nationalize elections in blatant disregard of the U.S. Constitution.”
If the Vice President has no power in this matter, then it is unnecessary for this job to be performed by the Vice President. It renders the article "of no effect."
This is clearly wrong by established interpretation standards.
Since the United States Constitution mandates that the Senate must choose a president pro tempore to act in the vice president’s absence. If Pence was not there. The pro tempore would have been used. That would have been Leahy ! Leahy would have had no qualms about doing it. If Pence was there he could have refused to do it. Refused to do it as a protest. It might have been constitutionally interesting I am not sure the final result would have been any different.
The primary blame is the state legislatures. Particularly those states that have urban centers where they’ve allowed decades of vote fraud to continue because of fear of the ‘race card’.
when our freedoms are taken.. one by one...there will be rehashing.
The 19 yr old who dared speak about chins.. and his parents were taken and tortured..plus ransacked the house.. you think that can’t happen here... years ago I never imagined one party becoming that. today they are in the oval office and running the country.
You are the only one that is stating the facts. I’m not sure why most of FR can’t see that.
He still doesn’t recognize who the snakes are, he already endorsed Tim Scott and he will probably endorse Micro Rubio.
We will never Make America Great Again by re-electing Assistant Democrats.
So what is his role? Ceremonial? Posing for the cameras?
This interpretation implies an inconsequential intent from the Founders, and they were serious men not given to meaningless gestures.
If the Vice President is specified by the Constitution, it is because he has a duty to preform, and that duty does not include being a rubber stamp.
Screw you pence. You should have spoken up WHEN it was being stolen and supported your President.
I think Pence was more concerned about his ‘future’ than he was worried about doing the ‘right thing’.
None of it matters as the USSC has ruled there can be no contesting federal elections.
Remember: Judges are nothing special...they are just scumbag lawyers who were good at scumbagging.
Your problem is with the US Constitution, not with me. The VP has never counted votes. The VP has never had control over which votes to count. Doing so would be a blatant conflict of interest. Gore would have simply refused to count and Bush votes in 2000. Suddenly Gore is president by unanimous vote?
No surprise that the “Hang Pence” crowd wants to tear up the Constitution as well.
I fully support President Trump and I absolutely wanted (and still want) him to have another 4 year term as President of the United States. But not to the point of engaging in anarchy. The US Constitution says what it means and means what it says. If we’re going to just abandon it when the result goes a way we don’t like, we’re no better than Somalia. No thanks.
I’m a strict constitutionalist. You ought to be too.
You act as if Pence was a bystander to the stolen election and not the sitting VP WHO WAS ON THE BALLOT. This election was stolen from Pence just as much as Trump. Pence CHOSE to do nothing about that. Pence CHOSE to go on a beach vacation the weekend after election day instead of rally the party. Pence CHOSE to hide under his desk for TWO MONTHS while the steal was confirmed.
Nobody forced Pence to do any of that. Nobody forced Pence to not light rockets on the GOP legislatures, governors and Senate to do their constitutional duties.
Stop excusing his pathetic behavior. He violated the oath he swore to as VP and richly deserves ever bit of derision he gets.
I think this is about the best response I have ever heard to your argument.
"I did understand however, that my oath to preserve the constitution to the best of my ability, imposed upon me the duty of preserving, by every indispensable means, that government -- that nation -- of which that constitution was the organic law. Was it possible to lose the nation, and yet preserve the constitution? By general law life and limb must be protected; yet often a limb must be amputated to save a life; but a life is never wisely given to save a limb. I felt that measures, otherwise unconstitutional, might become lawful, by becoming indispensable to the preservation of the constitution, through the preservation of the nation. Right or wrong, I assumed this ground, and now avow it."
You act as if Pence was a bystander to the stolen election and not the sitting VP WHO WAS ON THE BALLOT.
Yes, yes, Pence was enjoying his warm bucket of spit.
I appreciate your kind words. I like to think that most are aware and agree and it’s just a vocal group of wishful thinkers who want it to very much not be true.
I wanted very much to have another four years with President Trump in office. I donated and did a lot of work campaigning for him even though I’m in a state where the result wasn’t going to change either way. But what’s done is done and our energy is much better spent looking ahead to what comes next. I believe President Trump is not done and I will help him move this country in a better direction in any way I can. The rest of us should be ready to do so as well. The only way we can do that is to get our minds right and focus on what we can control.
Whatever the reason, the safeguards in the Constitution against voter fraud failed, not due to flaws in the document but because of the cowardice of the legislatures primarily, but also the courts and Congress secondarily. I think it was John Adams who said the Constitution is effective only with a moral people. Many Americans, especially the most of the political, cultural, and financial elite, are not moral.
Correct. The national GOPe needed to buck up the GOP legislatures and that never happened. Those legislatures are full of politically ambitious climbers and once they got the no go signal from above they just were not interested in fighting this battle to the benefit of Donald J. Trump. It’s that simple really.
Elections are suppose to follow the law passed by the state legislatures... It does not take a lawyer to show which states held illegal elections. As far as I am concerned Mike Pence along with Republicans were in on the steal. There was no reason for the uniparty thieves to be concerned deep state Pence would seal their treacherous plot. And the conspirators knew darn well Malta Roberts would prevent any case being heard..
Agree 100%. The stolen election was just the final chapter of the 4 year long and fully bipartisan coup.
I agree with you here. He should have been working on the state legislatures to fix this. But by the time the certificates were sent to the US Senate and US Archives, the deed was done. At that point, there was nothing for Pence to do. That's where I was going with that. But you're 100% right that he should have been focused on getting the legislatures and the courts to address the situation while it was still fixable.
Oh did he now?
The Vice President counts the votes. This implicitly gives him the authority to decide what is a vote and what is not a vote.
No, the 12th Amendment says that the President of the Senate will open the votes in the presence of the Senate and that they shall then be counted. By law it is the four tellers, two from the House and two from the Senate, who do the counting. Nowhere in the 12th Amendment, Article 2, or in 3 U.S. Code § 15 does it give the President of the Senate the power, implicitly or explicitly, to reject votes certified by the states.
Why isn’t the left prosecuting the people who signed affidavits of fraud ?
He admits there were “voting irregularities” and that the state courts and executive branches went outside their authority....yet didn’t feel it necessary to stop the counting and send the disputed E.C. votes back to the states.
No kidding.
Still a traitor, in my book, Pence.
Stop with your Heritage Foundation tool FAIL sales scheme.
I can’t wait to get the next plea for Heritage $$ from this loser.
