When dealing with candidates for public office, the one consideration for him above all others is: Will this candidate win?
Trump will endorse a RINO who he sees as a winner over a MAGA candidate who is a loser. That's the way he's operated all along.
He even demonstrated this in the GOP primary in the Alabama race for U.S. Senate last year. There's no way in hell he wanted Jeff Sessions to win that primary, but he was pretty much silent about the race through most of the primary season. He only came out and publicly endorsed Tommy Tuberville when a poll late in the primary campaign showed him with a large lead over Sessions.
It seems to be a skillset he lacks. Hopefully he works on t over the next 4 years and gets the right team in place when he wins the prez election of 2024. Otherwise, we’re back to teeth pulling.
Jay Sekulow earned the AG slot, perhaps even Chief of Staff. De Vos earned Sec of Education. General Kelly earned a slot. Steve Bannon deserves a lesser slot, because he kinda went off the deep end with his leaks. Don Jr. might deserve some minor slot, if it’s legal. Palin deserves Sec of Interior or VP.
