Alaska’s new election system changes how primary elections take place in the state and could protect Murkowski from the ire of pro-Trump Alaskans, potentially paving the way for a successful 2022 election cycle.
Alaska’s new election system Last November, Alaska passed — by a slim 1 percent margin — a ballot initiative that will make Alaska the second state after Maine to use a ranked-choice voting system, and the only state to have a primary election system that chooses four top picks.
Ballot Measure 2 will change the election system to have one primary election instead of two with the four candidates receiving the most votes earning a spot on the general election ballot, regardless of party affiliation. Alaskans will then rank the four candidates in the general election. This voting method will take hold for legislative and statewide races but not city and borough races. Future presidential elections will use the ranked-choice system but will not ask voters to choose their top four candidates in the primary.
In an effort to combat “dark money,” the measure also stipulates that groups who donate to candidates in state legislature and governor races must be more transparent with their financial disclosures.
According to Anchorage Daily News, advocates of the initiative spent almost $7 million on a year and a half long campaign. Opposing groups raised less than 10 percent of that. In December of last year, a group of Republican, Libertarian and Independent Alaskans filed a lawsuit challenging the passing of Measure 2.

Of course this COULD help Murkowski, but it won’t. The small state tricks she pulled to beat Joe Miller won’t work against Palin running with Trump’s backing. By the time her primary comes up Trump will be an unstoppable steamroller.
Our reality is the progressive left - of which Murkowski is a member - is always several steps ahead. Quirky, non-traditional elections laws are their forte.
Look at Georgia. Without that weird run-off system, both Republicans would have won on election day...the real election day.

Yeah, I think that's why the feds were so desperate to take over the education system in our nation..
In order protect themselves they needed to stop the free flow of ideas and any sort of patriotic fervor or civics training..
But they may have shot themselves in the foot. Most of the young folks now loath the military or most anything pro American..

This Alaskan knows EXACTLY what this piece of garbage voting method will do.
It “rewards” moderates (read squishes with absolutely no principles). We are now supposed to list 4 candidates in order of preference. If there is no over 50% winner, the #4 person gets dropped and votes are divided equally among the top 3. Then if there is still no 50% winner, the 3rd person is dropped and the votes divided equally to the top 2. If there is still no clear winner, there will be a runoff.
It is pure horse crap. Our votes get split up and could be used to help a dirty, rotten, pinko, a-hole that you hate.
I Cannot stand this crap. I cannot see how this is legal in any sense of the word.

All Murkowski needs now is to get the RNC blessing...unless Trump deplatforms her ass first.
