(Gas tax / gas mileage)

WA is 3rd now, with CA (of course) #1 at 82.2 cents per gal plus local taxes. Diesel for my pickup is taxed at $1.13 plus. But I’m sure WA will try to catch up, as it’s a race to the bottom.

Just moved from the Peoples Republic of Seattle to north Idaho, Sandpoint area. Property prices are way up, Calfornicators are moving in, and rental housing is difficult to find. The local self storage companies are doing land office business. One brother tells me a new hire at his company has been unable to find either a rental or storage. I just moved out out of my own storage unit, and the operator told me they have a massive waiting list for units.

I lived in Couer d Alene from ‘95-‘98, and the population has nearly doubled. Nearby Post Falls now has a larger population than CDA had when I last lived here. Fortunately, many of those moving in are trying to escape the liberal insanity, but enough are libtards that it could be an issue at some point

gas tax is per gallon.
pay-per-mile tax would be per mile.

Electric cars don’t pay the gas tax, but they drive on the same roads.

Of course, we know that what they really want is to charge all gas-powered cars the per-mile tax in addition to the per gallon tax, because Washington state leftist politicians hate cars and freedom of movement. They want everybody crammed onto mass transit.

Your last statement is very important. I had grown up in WA. In the ‘80s, Californians were starting to migrate up north in mass. Washington used to have a lot of sanity that was soon replaced by people carrying their politics with them. It’s the same reason I’m concerned for TX and FL. Governors keep trying to bring people from liberal states. They should be careful what they wish for.

.02 per mile, pulse the cost of the electricity charging every time you charge. Going to be expensive to operate these vehicles.

>>it’s only for electric cars aka rolling appliances so why should I care. Make it $3 each mile. That’ll show us gas guzzlers we’re evil s/<<

Agreed. Call it a “smug tax.”

Asking the owners of electric vehicle which are as heavy or heavier than IC vehicles and cause just as much wear on the infrastructure but to date are exempt from paying is wrong?

Sorry but I think they are right on this one, first we were forced to subsidize electric vehicle purchases and now they should get a pass on infrastructure also? Yeah It's always OK to have a special green weenie protected class........NOT!

They want to slap a GPS tracker on your vehicle. Watch for it.

At 15 MPG for my truck, I pay 7.5¢ per mile in fuel tax, plus a $260 “weight fee” every year that adds another 2.6¢ per mile.

I considered buying an electric car for my wife a couple years ago. Her employer has free charging, including a prime parking spot by the front door. With all the subsidies and benefits, it would have been cheap to own.

There are a lot of people living in Kansas that have their vehicles tagged in Washington state. If Kansas doesn’t jump on this rediculous tax and copy it, maybe these people will start tagging in Kansas where they live.

Amish are a peaceful people but a horse and buggy tax could call out the Men in Black...things could get exciting.
