Trump's tax returns have been handed over to Manhattan prosecutors: Supreme Court declined to block a New York grand jury from getting Trump's personal and corporate tax returns.

Former President Donald Trump’s tax returns and underlying tax documents are now in the hands of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance.

The subpoena for Trump’s tax documents from Mazars USA was enforced on Monday and Vance’s office now has them, a spokesperson for Vance’s office, Danny Frost, told NBC News on Thursday.

The subpoena was enforced after the Supreme Court declined on Monday to stop their production following an emergency application from Trump’s attorneys.

In that ruling Monday, the high court declined to block a New York grand jury from getting Trump's personal and corporate tax returns, a decisive defeat in his long legal battle to keep his tax records out of investigators' hands.

The ruling doesn't mean the returns will become public any time soon, and they might never be publicly released. Under New York state law, materials turned over to a grand jury must be kept secret.

But Vance has now compelled Trump's accountants to turn over the records that Trump has steadfastly refused to surrender to prosecutors or Congress.

Vance was seeking tax returns covering eight years for a grand jury investigation of hush money payments and other financial transactions. The investigation began after it was disclosed that former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen paid Stormy Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about her claim that she had an affair with Trump, an allegation he has denied.

Cohen also alleged to Congress that the Trump Organization sometimes lied about its financial condition to evade taxes or obtain favorable loan terms.

The world of tax laws is a world of random infraction.

They should have just “wiped them out with a rag” like Hillary, no issues there apparently.

As someone with an MS in Taxation, I fight with people all the time over this crap.

What does “Tax Return” mean? His 1040? The top tier return of his organization which is likely just a Holding Company?

What is the goal? His political enemies always seemed to indicate that it was to prove he wasn’t paying taxes. I submit, that they’ll accuse him as they accuse Amazon. Neither is doing anything illegal. They’re paying no taxes because they are filing under the tax laws that CONGRESS has passed.

SHAME ON THEM. If we don’t like that “Trump” is using depreciation expense to force his rental properties into losses and therefore pay little or no tax, then we should tell Congress to change the tax law.

The lemmings that go around believing this crap have no idea how the tax law works. Conversely, they have no idea what a 1040 shows. And the idea that he pays “no tax” is ludicrous.

WHO exactly pays no tax? his businesses? Maybe, see above. But his POTUS salary alone will put him in the 30% withholding bracket so that’s way more than the $300 the media have reported.

Can you tell this makes me nuts???

Skepticism about Kavanaugh and Barrett is warranted, IMO. But, under well established jurisprudence, this wasn’t even a close call. Local, state and federal prosecutors enjoy incredible investigative latitude when it comes to tax and other financial investigations. Outside of murder and some national defense statutes, do you know what federal crimes have the longest statute of limitations? Finance and tax crimes.

Once Trump left office, there wasn’t any doubt the Manhattan DA was getting whatever he wanted.

That doesn’t make this smell any less than it does. But, if you want to blame someone for it, you can blame ‘Law & Order’ Republicans who, over the last 50-years have ceded to the government nearly universal powers to investigate citizens on the flimsiest of pretexts. We’re now being eaten by the monster we eagerly helped to create. Ron Paul warned us, but we laughed.

I think it will take a couple of months to leak. Enough people have to have eyes on so that the leak can’t be narrowed down. That said, I expect to read about information from them in the NYT before summer.

Why?
1. He’s a private citizen.
2. He has not been accused of a crime.

The GOP could if they ever win again.

However, they are too gutless to fight for anything.

Look at Cornyn kissing his good friend Merrick Garland’s ass today.

“It was court ordered, silly.”

Would the Court send federal marshals to seize the records?

I would wonder what value Trump’s Federal tax returns would have for a NY prosecutor anyway. Trump already filed mountains of paperwork as part of his NEW YORK income tax returns.

It depends what they’re looking for. They might want to see the “whole” of his income Federally to see how that activity relates to his activity in NY. They might want to verify the starting point of the NY return which is typically Federal Taxable Income.

But again, remember that politicians generally turn over only their 1040s. Even Mitt Romney never turned over anything other than that. So this is unprecedented that his business returns are on the realm - if indeed they are.

And as I say, if all they are getting are his 1040s, they’re not going to find out much. (other than maybe he was cheap with charity) :)

The Trump tiTaxsic hit a SCOTUS heistberg while trying to cross the
adFrantic (Leftists).

Trump had his civil rights stolen through a coordinated attack by
the frantic Leftists and the ice cold (to Trump) SCOTUS.

There was no reason whosoever to require Trump to turn these records
over. It's an ice hole fishing expedition.

Should not, in the interest of fairness, Mister Obama’s complete, unedited, and comprehensive collegiate transcripts should be similarly produced?

When I worked in New York the accounting software was set up to have all the tax returns — Federal, NY State, and NYC — linked together. I can’t imagine that any accountant would sign off on a return with even a small discrepancy between what was reported to the IRS and what was reported to the State.

The ruling doesn't mean the returns will become public any time soon

They will be leaked to CNN and MSNBC no later than tomorrow night, along with a false narrative about how fishy they look.

we no longer live in a land of laws
and
we have lost our constitutionally- recognized liberties, too. That document is dead as a dodo. Alas.

as President John Adams said in 1798:

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

After what we’ve all witnessed taking place, since the stolen election, are you seriously asking this question??

Have you seen recent pics of DC??

Have you seen EOs and other laws passed, since 1/21/21??

Have you seen what’s become of every election fraud case...all the way up to SCOTUS, so far??

I want the location of that rock you’re living under. Sounds very far removed.
