Sen. Ted Cruz delivers water in Texas after Cancun getaway backlash
NY Post ^ | February 21, 2021 | Mark Moore

Sen. Ted Cruz released photos of himself on Twitter delivering water and meeting with Texans amid the growing controversy over the Republican lawmaker’s jetting off to tropical Cancun last week as his constituents in the Lone Star State were battling a deep-freeze, widespread power outages and burst pipes that flooded homes.

The pictures, posted on his Twitter account Saturday, showed the embattled senator carrying a case of water to several vehicles and shaking hands with a person.

He wrote “Texas Strong” in the tweet.

Bush, W., did his share of groveling over things that were not his fault, but this Cruz episode really takes the prize.

Yea but this guy is a special kind of idiot

I have no problem with him escaping to Cancun to beat the cold, I probably would have done the same thing if I live in Texas. But the way he handled it was beyond anything I ever saw, it was like watching a retard handling a stick of dynamite

It was that bad

When he was asked if people should have left Texas to avoid the freeze, he should have said, yes if you are out of power and can’t keep warm, you should leave for a warmer place. It was foolish to tell people to stay home and at the same time, leave for Cancun, this sank him. Made him look like an elite telling us to do what they want us to do while doing the opposite, people hate that crap.

If he would have played his cards better in that question, this would have never blown up in his face like it did.

And then it got worse for him afterwards, blaming his kids for going to Cancun, doing the “photo op” just made it 1000x worse for him.

Like I said, it was like a retard handling a stick of dynamite, it was that bad.

Too little, too late. Is it in missions of air, these little staged efforts, do not resolve and excuse his incompetence and ignorance. The only thing that will solve that is his resigning and letting Abbot appoint a replacement. The only positive thing at the moment is that the blame lays squarely at his feet, not on Republicans, conservatives, and Americans in general.

Yes, that would have been ideal but I don't think Heidi would have gone for it (doubt she does any manual labor).

I was only looking at it as a way to get warm and have running water and to not be in the media's crosshairs.

Look busy working on those high energy bills! $17,000! Un friggin believable! I don’t know what they can do about that robbery.

Some electric companies are going bankrupt because of that, too. People are complaining they have been switched to another company and that is the reason why.

Feels like groveling.

That's exactly what it is, but this is 2021 America:

Ted’s not up to spit shine Trump’s shoes.

Take your CDS elsewhere, troll. I've seen you in action, you've been here about a month, and all you're good for is spewing hate for Cruz, and personally insulting Ted's wife.

If you think you're helping Trump with this line of attack, you're sadly mistaken.

Ted isn’t a natural born citizen. He wasn’t eligible when he ran and he’s not now.

With the current climate of hating everyone for every thing, it was either apologize or be put in the public stocks. But you knew that.

My 79 year old father did. Our choices in Texas are fairly straight forward. If 82 year grandpa cannot manage such a simple task, he may need someone in the family to take over his affairs.

Also, the people in the news stories haven’t been little old grannies and grandpas. They have been middle aged. Nice straw man you tried to set up there.

Agree in general.

But the democrats have used his actions to generate a lot of negative press.

Well, well. According to this and this the price spike wasn't the result of a free market, but rather a Biden's DOE mandate. The problem could have been prevented by fully using Texas's non-green power generation capacity, albeit without much left over. Abbott requested just that. Trump almost certainly would have said yes. Team Green's response left Texan's out in the cold and seeing Green, as in $$$, as any power over their limits for federally mandated to be at 6000% over market pricing.

So furious Texans need to adjust targeting. I'm not saying there aren't problems in the GOP there, but this was caused by the new team of Feds even more than by the weather. Redirect volleys of emails, phone calls, etc. according. Stop shooting Cruz and start shooting via him as your representative. Heck, even Cornyn should be a useful conduit on this. Encourage your AG to investigate whether any legal recourse is available, criminally or civilly, for the damages caused. Maybe the size of the mandated price hike qualifies as some kind of malicious exception to the Feds' "I'm just doing my routine duty defense." There probably isn't, but he may be able to make enough noise to correct the narrative.
