The House is officially in therapy.
In the weeks after the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection, which left at least five dead, lawmakers and their staff in the House of Representatives are seeking out mental health counseling.
Paul Tewksbury, director of the House Office of Employee Assistance, told lawmakers in a Thursday hearing that his office has provided 760 counseling sessions since the events of Jan 6 — something he called a “significant increase.”
Tewksbury said there had been around 3,000 contacts between his office and the Capitol Hill community in the first half of 2020.

“There’s a lot of stress and anger going on. … We’re validating feelings, whatever they are,” Rep. Gerald E. Connolly told the Capitol Hill newspaper. “Interestingly, the people I think who were struggling the most are the people who physically were not here.”

Never has there been a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
It actually was an overwhelmingly peaceful protest. Is dissent no longer patriotic or is that only when a Republican is president?
“Free therapy rope. Get your free therapy rope. 5’ is all you’ll ever need. ... therapy rope here....”
The Democrats staged the bits we keep hearing about so they could hammer us with them. So of course those matter. You just cannot be an influential Democrat without being a hypocritical sack of shit.
Yep- emotional trauma- boo hoo stupid babies.
I bet you can find websites that detail how to scam the psychologists - I found one about 17 yrs ago with TSA people exchanging info on how to do this when they became union and couldn’t be fired and didn’t want to work anymore.
They’re really milking it. What a pathetic bunch of anti-American cowards they are. I think the residents in Minneapolis who suffered last summer have more of a right to be traumatized.
These lawmakers have no problem sending America’s kids to foreign lands to be murdered. But now they have the vapors about their precious lives facing chaos for an hour? Sheesh.
But the real riots over Cavanaugh were edifying and uplifting.
I agree entirely. As Jefferson said “When the people fear the Government there is Tyranny. When the Government fears the people there is Liberty’’.
“They sound like the French court before the revolution.”
Or 18 Brumaire before Napoleon sent the army in to bust up the Directory.
I bet Hitler was thinking it was Brumaire in Germany.
She perceived that the intruders intended to assault her...and since she suffered the same negative emotions that she would have if it had actually happened, it matters just as much. You...men just don't get it! /s
BBBBWWWAAAHHHHH!!!! what a bunch of whiny turd sniffing cowards!!!!!!
They all hid behind the security details with weapons aimed at the peaceful protesters and now they need therapy. What a bunch of limp wristed politicians.
The future of our military is so troubling. I believe they will find it easier to fire on follow americans than foreign invaders if things don’t change in the rank & file.
Tells us how stable the folks in our government are....considering not one Congress member or any aid was harmed during the riot. There were not THOUSANDS in the building...I’m betting less than 100.
Bingo!
“There’s a lot of stress and anger going on. …”
Yes, and this is by the Trump voters.
Yeah, Napoleon did station troops around Paris to “protect” the Directory, didn’t he?
I suppose we should start calling the Senate and the House the Council of Ancients and the 500 or whatever the French called the lower house.
I can imagine who is developing a plan to “protect” congress.
It would be funny if it wasn’t so obvious.
Walled in - troops waiting - cut the lines out.
Walkure
You can bet the ranch on one fact. If these snowflakes did not have access to taxpayer funded counseling, 99% of them would not have sought said counseling. My employer provided me with a paid parking space in the garage of the building where I worked. My employer was forced by the IRS regs to add to my income the monthly fee for the parking space for tax calculation purposes. I bet the ranch again that none of these privileged snowflakes have to pay taxes on the unseen perks that are showered upon them. Who in the heck decided that congress and their staffs were entitled to free counseling? Why congress, of course. President Trump needed four more years to further drain the swamp and the congress critters on both sides of the isle knew it.
