WASHINGTON — Sen. Ted Cruz flew home from Mexico Thursday, amid outrage over his trip during a crisis-level storm in Texas — explaining he was only chaperoning his daughters and their friends on the flight.
The Republican lawmaker was seen getting back on a plane to the US on Thursday afternoon and issued a statement explaining that was not on a vacation himself, but was accompanying his daughters on a flight to theirs.

What about the plans of people in your state? I’m certain
they had some plans they had to blow off.

This is a disaster on the order of a hurricane, tornado, or
wildfires. There may not be anything you can do, but your
constituents have some expectation that you would actually
care.

Why did you change the subject? I don’t do hypotheticals. As a practical matter, there wasn’t and isn’t anything for Cruz to do.
And if people want communism, let them have what they want. People get the government they deserve.
I don’t buy his excuse that he was just escorting his family there. He would have stayed if he hadn’t been caught. I guess it’s the best lie he could come up with given the circumstances.

The local Houston news media are really piling on, they dedicated half their time on this non-story. Shameful really.
United States he had a return ticket for Saturday. He changed it this morning to come back. But now that he’s home, he will have to deal with whatever if anything comes from it. Maybe it is a dead issue now.

Ted demonstrated that he could go vacation in a tropical
zone while his fellow Texans were on death’s doorstep.
I couldn’t have done that. I see a big problem with it.
Reactively, perhaps, there was not much Cruz could do to help his constituents, though that is arguable. Proactively; however, he could have refused to provide his critics with a depot's worth of ammunition with which to go after him. This he did not do.
As Lee Atwater was fond of saying, in politics, perception is reality, and Cruz did himself no favors in the perceptions he formed by doing this.
Cruz said on Hannity he was going with his wife and kids to the beach. He wasn’t just making sure his kids got on the plane. Cruz said he originally planned to work remotely throughout the weekend, Wed to Saturday. Hence the suitcase. But then had second thoughts (after the backlash) and said we need to have boots on the ground.
HaHa no problem FRiend, I don’t know if I should admit to this; but I saw that movie and I knew she was older than 7, LOL.
