WASHINGTON — Sen. Ted Cruz flew home from Mexico Thursday, amid outrage over his trip during a crisis-level storm in Texas — explaining he was only chaperoning his daughters and their friends on the flight.
The Republican lawmaker was seen getting back on a plane to the US on Thursday afternoon and issued a statement explaining that was not on a vacation himself, but was accompanying his daughters on a flight to theirs.

And to think I once favored him over Trump! Not by the end of the primaries, but early on. Anyone over the age of 21 should no appear in public looking like that!
Evidently his bratty kids demanded a trip with their BFFs. He had no choice. And, his wife can’t possibly be alone with the darlings. He had to chaperone her, also.
But. The majority opinion here is that Ted Cruz owes NOTHING to the State of Texas. Not a thing he can do. He’s 100% beholden to DC. And, be sure to vote for him in 4 years. Ignore that about him blaming Trump for Jan. 6. He DESERVES a vacation. Stop whining and wanting an elected representative to do ANYTHING. He doesn’t have to. Just blame Abbot. We should have been prepared for this. Our houses are crap. We’re weak. The glorious windmills up north don’t freeze. I think I covered most of the insults.

I am not seeing the foul. He planned a vacation. He doesn’t run Texas. There wasn’t a vote he missed that I know of, or a committee meeting.

Most fireplaces don’t heat a home very well, if at all. A wood stove will work very nicely. But they have to be properly installed and to code.

You are a sitting US Senator. The governor of the state you represent has declared an emergency in 100% of the counties in the state, and you go on vacation to a tropical paradise. You don't see a foul? If Mary Landrieu, Democrat Senator from Louisiana had been photographed on a Venetian Gondola in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina there is not a single FReeper that would have defended her.
I'm not a fan of the 17th Amendment, but one requirement of a popularly elected senator is that they make some effort to engender and cultivate at least a little bit of popularity.
