It’s not a good look. We would (hopefully) use something like this against a Democrat. No, it doesn’t have any impact on the situation in TX at all. Since when is politics about things that really matter? He gave his enemies a weapon. Ultimately, it will be a big nothing.

There probably isn't much he can do but totally blowing up any notion of constituent service and saying "don't expect me to help expedite or direct federal resources to Texas" is an odd choice for a politician.
I agree that a lot of the outrage is performative but there's no one better than Cruz at performative politics in the Senate so I guess it's kind of fitting.

No offense, but many people take a whole week off when Monday is a holiday at work or for their kids at school.
What is he going to do? He’s not the governor or a local official and I doubt pedaling a bicycle to generate power would do much. There’s a lot to criticize politicians over but I do t see this as one of them.
Agree, nothing that he could do. Northam the Virginia Governor was going to the outer banks after he gave lockdown orders.
