I am so deeply saddened by this news. Our thoughts and prayers to him and his family.
It's nice to have this thread. Rush was talk radio.Those of us who learned from him realize just how good he actually was. He knew it all created much of it and was actually the professor of the medium.
To give you an idea of Rush's reach he had an audience of over 20 million with his affiliates.There was more around the world on the web. More in cars and every other talk show took their lead from him. So it difficult to say what Rush's reach actually was. It was huge perhaps 100 million or more world wide.
NO one is in that league,no one has what it takes to play in that world and more over make it look easy.
No one could do radio after they lost their hearing,Rush did the impossible over and over five days a week. He was the best of the best and will never be replaced. We have his memories. May he rest in peace.

I heard him too he has the toughest job of all coming in after RUsh,does not get any harder than that. YOu cant tell rush like him or he would never have been back so many times.I still dont look for a replacement however since its just too hard to pull off.
Rush was too good to replace.

Somehow, today was harder than yesterday. Got my usual excitement when 11 am rolled around, and then then the reality hit. So tough today, so tough.
He never gave up and taught the politics of defeating the left as much as he taught learning how to do what he does to those who are lucky if we even get close. We operated at a much lower level since he did everything almost without thinking about it. Not so much for the rest of us. and for me He was a once in a lifetime patriot and we were all lucky to have heard him.
Been thinking about what I can do, personally, to honor Rush. You know I was pretty down after the election thinking nothing I do matters, no amount of money I donate or time or voting.... SCREW THAT. Time to buck up and kick some liberal butt. The fight continues. NEVER GIVE UP.

Rush, my favorite “lovable, little, fuzz ball” made it personal. I knew I wasn’t alone.

Listened to Rush’s last podcast this a.m. Oh Lordy he will be missed.
Sean teased with Snerdly's upcoming appearance, and I can't believe the interview was so brief. I wish it had gone on for an hour. I really hope there will be one in more depth soon.

lol. That’s giving Sean too much credit for having any consistent philosophy. He’s probably closest to a 1960s Establishment Republican, the ones who helped LBJ pass his bills... Sean loves that 1964 civil rights power grab that Goldwater, Buckley and Reagan opposed. Of course Rush did too. I don’t think any of them know/knew much about what conservatism was before the Reagan years and the neocon invasion.
Finally have a moment to share thoughts.
To me, his announcement last year was more difficult than his death, it took me weeks to get past that announcement because I knew he would be leaving not on his terms.
For most of my adult life, I arranged my day around the 3-hour class he held. Through college, unemployment and jobs, relationships, marriage and children I always arranged my day around this. The podcasts made it easier because I was able to listen over the weekends.
The world is a little colder for me. I feel like I felt when my father finally passed. Dad was in pain for months, toughing it out for my mom but he was broken towards the end, a shadow of the fun loving, gentle cigar smoking knucklehead with huge hands and a huge heart.
