Chinese media outlets praised President Joe Biden on Wednesday for what they characterized as a respectful, “positive” call between the head of state and Chinese dictator Xi Jinping.
The Xinhua news agency and the Global Times state propaganda newspaper both highlighted the timing – on the eve of the Lunar New Year – as a gesture of goodwill from the new presidential administration. The former expressed hope that, after President Donald Trump’s tenure featured policies designed to contain the influence of the Chinese Communist Party abroad and frequent condemnations of its human rights atrocities, America under Biden would return to the “right track” of policy favorable to Beijing...
The newspaper also celebrated reports that Biden had undone recent policies implemented under Trump that limited the infiltration of the American academic system by the Communist Party’s “Confucius Institutes.”...
The newspaper (NY Times) nonetheless noted that Biden has “said that he believed he had spent more time with Mr. Xi than he has with any other world leader.”

Don’t be fooled. There is a lot going on out here as I speak that Beijing does NOT like. Such as AEGIS equipped with Tomahawk and USS Ohio sub with 2nd MEF amphibious out of Okinawa showing them to keep clear from Senkaku Islands and stand down with the recent naval and fishing provocations based on new Red Chinese maritime “self defense law.” Biden doing the right thing so far, taking diplomacy on the one hand but clearly showing the stick out of Yokosuka, Sasebo and Okinawa, and having the joint statement recently with Japan Defense Minister re: disputed islands. And the Reds do not like it one bit.

What a ridiculous statement. “China” does not do or say anything. It’s a geographic area. Some virtue signaling reporter is excited by Biden’s “respect.”
Wars start because one side has lost deterrence. We have lost deterrence. Even if we had local superiority, which we no longer have, a weak seeming leadership would encourage Xi to take advantage. And, America under Biden has never seemed so weak.

Give them six months to get their people in place, and find a way to spin the Program cancellations, and find excuses for all the sell outs of allies.
All those Intermediate range weapon upgrades that were going to deny China their nine dash line? Don’t bet long on those stocks.
Maybe they can initiate a bribe bidding war between Countries in the region, for protection from China. Otherwise, I’d expect China will be running roughshod over their neighbors by year’s end.
