The Senate voted Tuesday to move ahead with the unprecedented impeachment trial of former President Trump after listening to hours of arguments on whether it is constitutional to try a president who is already out of office.

The vote was 56-44.

Trump's legal team said the trial is unconstitutional because he's no longer in office and can't face removal, which is the standard judgment of an impeachment conviction.

So this is the new precedent now? Some senators can simply cote what is and isn’t constitutional? I guess it is just too much to bother reading it.

Don’t forget about the seats cocaine mitch and the rinos cost us..

Two Arizona loses by mcsally...
Two Georgia losses by straight up fraud...
Colorado... probably fraud also remember colorado had record turnout in 2020... statewide mail in balloting of course...
And John James from Michigan got frauded along with Trump.

Cocaine mitch would still be holding the gavel if he had just supported Trump instead of trying to knee cap MAGA!

But who cares... Just like here in CA rinos always come out at last second to sell out to the Dems for money or favors.

The country is finished, Dems will use the government power they stole to outlaw Republicans....

Just look at California... election fraud is the norm here...

Now that Dems control the government and the law enforcement...we have no country.

Republicans are having to swallow more Democrat policies...

Too many rinos in the senate to stop anything the Dems want.

No, they understand it and don’t care, and never have. Is that really surprising to you?

Republicans are having to swallow more Democrat policies...

RINOs are doing more swallowing than Monica Lewinsky.

I like the fact they allow those who concocted this impeachment sham, to vote on whether it’s Constitutional for them to do so, when they’re anything but impartial. Of course it’s going to go their way. That’s like the seating cops on a jury in a criminal trial. Or having the leftist media moderate political debates.

".... They really don’t understand the Constitution do they...or their role to uphold it...."

They really don't care to understand the Constitution.

They're blinded by their hateful mission to get rid of Trump at any cost.

Their politics overshadowed their love of country.

I would argue to Cassidy that the House offered what might have been perceived as ‘stronger’ because they were arguing the heart - emotional reasons for disregarding our Founding Document, every word enshrined, because it stands in their way of their goal. The president’s team argued the head - the document was indeed, a standing document, and so needed little defense - The Constitution was written plainly, with no shadows, or whatifs, or buts, so that everyday men could understand what impeachment was and wasn’t, and could trust in a process that held high the enshrined right of due process that every citizen is entitled to under that same standing document, regardless of circumstance or mob mentality.

In my opinion, the little pro film the dems trotted out worked against them. Their timing is going to bite them. Especially when the montage of those Dems calling for rioting is still to be played by Trump’s side. The average viewer will connect the two, especially after a year of antifa and blm riots. Which will give more weight to the fact that those with ulterior purposes planned to riot, some now using Trump’s name as a shield, not those that were just there for one last Trump rally. Two separate and unrelated events that were not incited but pre-planned as a result of a summer of Dem-funded unrest.

The ancient Senator Leahy was also a juror voting to continue this farce?

And, as Raskin pointed out, the jurors are also the victims of the crime. So, do we have this right? Congress critters are victim, prosecution, jury and judge.

Cassidy has an entire State filled with energy workers and he’s been trying to posture himself as a buddy to this Administration in order to get Biden to back off on the petrol sector.

He’s hosed either way he votes.

Throws a bone to this Administration and we’re all over his ass.

Supports Trump’s cause and that’ll be remembered against him trying to negotiate any middle ground for the petro industry with Biden.

Now, you and I and that tree stump ALL KNOW that there’s no amount of ass kissing any GOPer can do to get real concessions from this cabal of Democrats, so Cassidy’s just all the more exposed as a political checkers player for thinking he’d try.

Really? Sasse has been one of the worst NeverTrumpers in the Senate. And he’s already beginning the scam loser shit that the GOPe does when its in a minority: he attempted to pass an amendment on abortion, something he never did when the GOP was in power, knowing it would lose so he could go farm outrage and kudos on Fox News.

He’s rat scum.

If they voted to approve the impeachment as constitutional, they will convict. Count on it. They believe it is necessary to bar Trump from politics and utterly destroy him as an insurrectionist in order to crush his supporters. They’re too stupid to realize it will have the opposite effect... or maybe they expect the opposite effect, helped out with their FBI controlled militia groups, to be violent, which they’ll also use to stomp down on us with maximum force.
