Idiots. This sort of banana republic political reprisal after an election will now go on forever, undermining peaceful relinquishment of power and transitions. It will likely someday sooner than I’d ever imagined result in dire conflict and possibly a full scale civil war.

One other thing. Some years ago, I was a jury foreman in a case where the defense attorney was far more competent than the Assistant States Attorney prosecuting the case. As the jury retired to deliberate, the Judge instructed us to rule based only on the merits (facts) of the case, not the competence of the attorneys. This may make the jury work a little harder, but it is very basic, and if Sen. Cassidy and others claim their vote was swayed by the presentation and not the facts, they should be disqualified. (Don’t ask me by whom — the SC, maybe — but they should be tossed out on their worthless behinds. Figuratively speaking, of course.)

Even CJ Roberts didn’t fall for this travesty. How does a biased juror get to replace a supposedly unbiased judge?

They won’t convict. I’ll stand by it.

-- according to my pastor, the government is the beast from the Book of Revelation --

That's an interesting interpretation.

My loose understanding or interpretation is that global government happens. Right now there is resistance to that inevitability. Part of the sorting.

I've suggested people read the book for an eye opening. Shocking events. A third of mankind wiped out, and the remaining two thirds still do not repent. Human nature is stubborn.

We are in agreement. The beast is not exclusively the US government. Through all nations and all of history, it is the government that oppresses people, strips away liberties, validates mass murder. Tyrannical governments (beast) take their power from the dragon (satan).

They also approved slavery. So, is voting on constitutionality the answer, or is it reading and addressing the text?

The senate vote was a partisan, foregone conclusion.

No way that a presidential impeachment that did not provide due process nor follow house rules should go forward against a person who is no longer president.

Why would Cassidy vote the way he did, siding with democrats who want to wipe out Louisiana’s energy industry.

They want to cancel Trump’s Secret Service protection and they want to do it for a reason.

This has been my exact same thought .. for the exact same reason.

I've wondered what their end game is, since, as dumb as they are, even Democrats have had to know going in that they don't have the votes.

And even though President Trump didn't take a salary fwiw, and doesn't need the $$, they'd try to maneuver a way to forfeit his Presidential pension, as well.

Plus send a shot across the bow of any other "non-DC-insider" to ever try to join their exclusive club again.

Any offenses or shenanigans that are not criminal in nature are not big enough to care about in the long term.

As for barring from office, even someone as evil and treasonous as Obama should not be barred from office outside conviction in a real impeachment, which requires that he be in office. Reelection should be decided by the voters in a free and fair election, not preempted by the US Senate (whether that Senate is in our hands or in the hands of America’s enemies).

Last I knew the SCOTUS decides constitutionality, NOT either chamber of Congress.

If Roberts will not participate in court cases he should resign or be impeached. I am sick of quislings.

What do they got to lose? Their home states are going to primary them, and they’ve been in too long anyway. At this point, what difference does it make?

North Korea and the PRC? Venezuela? This is a bad government and getting worse, but there is plenty of worse to get before you’re competing for the title of suckiest dictatorship on the planet.

We have a ROGUE, CRIMINAL and EVIL Government now. This is the WORST Government on the Planet Bar none!!!

Agreed. Sometimes I wish I'd see headlines of a military coup right here enforcing what the real majority of True Americans voted for. My fantasy continues with months going by with no word from/about biden, harris, pelosi, schumer, waters, nadler, schiff, feinstein,.....
