A Michigan couple tied balloons to the mailbox and set out a chalkboard with a hand-drawn sign announcing their baby shower on Saturday. To mark the occasion, the expectant parents in Gaines Township, Mich., fired a celebratory cannon as the small party stood outside in the snow in the backyard.

When the balls fall off the Brass Monkey, then it may be too cold to fire such cannon.
(”By Dawn’s Early Light”)
I remember that episode from wa-a-ay back! In the advertisements for the show they showed the cannon explode.
In the actual program they did not show the explosion but showed a closeup of the “General’s” face as the cannon explodes.
“Other metals” includes cast iron.
I would suppose so, but cast iron isn’t usually available to these homemade cannon makers............
Used to own a bronze foundry and every year would get someone asking us to pour a cannon. No way. The stories when cannons were used more people died firing them then the targets they aimed at.
Liability..... wow.
Can make a perfect casting and some idiot could blow it up.
Seems like a 10-25% load of powder would have set off a nice symbolic bang without being such a danger.
Really sad the loss of life at a joyous event.
Was shot at “The Citadel” in Charleston, SC.
When are the transactivists going to start persecuting the gender-reveal parents? How dare they celebrate biological sex?
You told me this was a digital Cannon!
bigger than the beercan tennis ball shooters we used to make
LOL Yeah just a bit.
I met a Rotwiler in Arkansas that had a Bowling Ball for a Toy. He would get 2 of the holes with His teeth and carry it back to you and drop it and start running for the next throwing (or yard rolling as it was a very heavy ball).
“Expectant parents fired a cannon to celebrate their baby shower. It exploded and killed a guest.”
Most people know enough to NOT stand in front of a cannon when it is being fired.
But that's not the end of the stupidity. A year later, a friend of his, decided to fire his own homemade cannon off to memorialize the death of his friend the year before.
His cannon exploded, as well, and killed him too.
Hopefully that has cleaned the gene pool up some.
But then anyone who would do all those stupid things to begin with, is probably not smart enough to admit that they aren't the moron but that a "friend" is instead.
I'm just sayin'....
My comment was made with my tongue planted firmly in my cheek.
I was being sarcastic. Facetious.
It was meant to be taken figuratively, not literally.
My "I'm just sayin'...." is evidence of that.
My repsonse would have been, "Funny guy, huh?"
