One would think that most people who did really stupid stuff like you admit to, would be smart enough to tell their story by stating at the beginning, "I have a friend who did such and such....", instead of implicating themselves.
But then anyone who would do all those stupid things to begin with, is probably not smart enough to admit that they aren't the moron but that a "friend" is instead.
