A U.S. warship sailed through the Taiwan Strait on Feb. 4, marking the first such operation during the Biden administration.
The USS McCain, a guided-missile destroyer, made a routine transit in the narrow waterway between Taiwan and China in accordance with international law, the U.S. Seventh Fleet said in a statement.
“The ship’s transit through the Taiwan Strait demonstrates the U.S. commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific. The United States military will continue to fly, sail and operate anywhere international law allows,” it said.
The maneuver came as the Chinese regime escalated its rhetoric and military pressure toward Taiwan in the days after President Joe Biden took office.
On the first weekend of Biden’s presidency, China made its largest-scale military incursions into the island’s air defense zone—13 military aircraft flew over Taiwan’s southwest waters on Jan. 23, and another 15 military aircraft made a similar incursion the next day.
The United States, in response, criticized Beijing’s military activities and reaffirmed its commitment to Taiwan, which it described as “rock solid.”
The United States, like most countries, has no official diplomatic ties with Taiwan, but is the island’s most important international backer and supplier of weapons.
Chinese aircraft incursions near Taiwan have since been seen almost on a daily basis for the past few months, according to the island’s defense ministry.
The Chinese regime considers Taiwan a part of its territory, even though the island has been governed as a distinct entity for more than seven decades.
Beijing has also vowed to retake Taiwan by military force if necessary. It views U.S. military transits of the Taiwan Strait as provocations, despite the waterway being deemed as open to all countries for transit under international law.

Dog and pony too make Biden look tough.
They have make it look like he’s an old school union moderate JFK type.
This is part of schick
Is it looking for another American ship to accidentally shoot?
Joe has his personal gun boat diplomacy “ pay me off” wallet open.
Hunter will go collect?
Its all theater.
Joe Biden won’t lift a finger to defend Taiwan. The PRC can walk into Taiwan anytime it wants to.
I gotta imagine that Charles Flynn is much more likely to have given orders to the “McCain” than Bitem. And Flynn reports to Milley. And Milley does not report to Bitem.
Shoulda been the USS Lucas McCain... ;)
They have make it look like he’s an old school union moderate JFK type.

Yeah, Biden is a regular JFK, minus charisma, looks, charm, wit, and humor.
At 5:24 a.m. on 21 August 2017 USS John S. McCain, a United States Navy warship, was involved in a collision with the Liberian-flagged tanker Alnic MC off the coast of Singapore and Malaysia, east of the Strait of Malacca.[1][2][3] According to a U.S. Navy press release, the breach “resulted in flooding to nearby compartments, including crew berthing, machinery, and communications rooms.”[4] Ten US Navy sailors died as a result of the crash, which prompted the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore to start a multi-agency search-and-rescue (SAR) effort as the agency responsible for coordinating SAR operations within Singapore’s Maritime Search and Rescue Region (MSRR).[5][6][3][7][8] The Singapore Transport Safety Bureau (TSIB) also launched a marine safety investigation following the collision in accordance with the International Maritime Organisation’s Casualty Investigation Code in Singapore’s capacity as a coastal state, and published its final report on 8 March 2018.[9] The U.S. Navy announced on 24 August 2017 that it had suspended search-and-rescue efforts for survivors in the open sea to focus on the recovery of the remains of the missing sailors still inside the flooded compartments of the ship.[10] By 27 August U.S. Navy and United States Marine Corps divers had recovered the remains of all ten sailors.[11] On 12 September 2017, the United States’ chargé d’affaires Stephanie Syptak-Ramnath expressed thanks for Singapore’s support during the SAR operations.[12] The McCain returned to service in June of 2020.

Honestly, it nauseates me to think of Biden being our leader
in a time of war.
Could it get any worse?
The first and the last LOL!
Xi has told Biden exactly what he can do.
And who does Milley report to?
Beijing Biden made a deal with his Communist Chinese associates.
Make me look good, and the big guy will take care of you.

Dakota Bordeaux had rarely traveled outside his home state of Oklahoma before he joined the Navy in February 2017. He’d certainly never seen the ocean.
But only four months later, Bordeaux was standing at the helm of the USS John S. McCain, steering the 8,300-ton destroyer through the western Pacific. Part of the Navy’s famed 7th Fleet, the McCain was responsible for patrolling global hot spots, shadowing Chinese warships in the South China Sea and tracking North Korean missile launches.
It filled the high school graduate with pride.
Bordeaux felt confident using the system to control the speed and heading of the ship. But there were many things he did not understand about the array of dials, arrows and data that filled the touch screen. “There was actually a lot of functions on there that I had no clue what on earth they did,” Bordeaux said of the system. Bordeaux, one of the newest sailors on the ship, was joined in uncertainty by one of the most seasoned, Cmdr. Alfredo Sanchez, captain of the McCain...
Bordeaux suddenly realized that the McCain was steaming uncontrolled toward the cargo ships sailing through the Singapore Strait. “Loss of steering,” he called out....Three minutes and 19 seconds after Bordeaux’s cry, the McCain collided violently with a 30,000-ton Liberian-flagged oil tanker. Ten Navy sailors were killed and scores more were injured. It was the Navy’s worst accident at sea in 40 years. ..Investigations by the Navy and the National Transportation Safety Board, or NTSB, concluded that the navigation system itself had not malfunctioned. The ship’s hard turn to the left and the inability to correct it was the result of a series of mistakes by Bordeaux and fellow sailors.
In the end, though, the Navy punished its own sailors for failing to master a flawed system that they had been inadequately trained on and that the Navy itself came to admit it did not fully understand.
I wonder if Joke soiled his adult diaper when his handlers told him about “his decision” to do this...
I believe he and Gaynor (FEMA) share the power.
I cannot imagine those U.S. ships are in any danger now that China owns them.
I wonder if Taiwan, like Israel, secretly has nuclear weapons?
Both answer to Biden.
Why? What is the purpose? Is the US really willing to fight a war with China over Taiwan? What happens when the Chinese cut off all critical stuff we need? Does anybody ever think of the consequences before they start all this saber rattling?
During the opening of the show, I would square up in front of the t.v. and have a shootout with him. He always won.
