This is one of the most bogus, anti-democratic things I’ve ever heard of. It’s amazing what these little dictator wannabes in Congress think they can get away with to stop people from having a real choice in their elections. They either believe they should be all-powerful or that everyone listening to them is a complete imbecile who will buy any laughable nonsense they throw out there as an excuse to persecute their political opponents.
Where do they get the idea that Congress can just declare someone an insurrectionist and disqualify him from office? Isn’t that the very definition of a bill of attainder? Outside the specific process of impeachment, we use courts and juries to convict people of crimes in this country.
He must be convicted at trial to be disqualified. The Constitution, you know.
And two, as long as he meets the requirements, Trump can run again for president if he wants to. It isn't up to the backstabber Collins or that loser Kaine. It's up to the Constitution, which they all so conveniently want to overlook.
