Sen. Josh Hawley on Monday filed an ethics complaint against the seven Democrats who last week filed one against him and Sen. Ted Cruz seeking their “expulsion or censure” for objecting to the presidential election results.
The Missouri Republican — who in a Post op-ed Sunday decried the muzzling of viewpoints through “cancel culture” — objected to certification of President Biden’s victory in Pennsylvania shortly after a mob of then-President Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6.
Hawley wrote to the Senate Ethics Committee that his seven accusers “filed an unprecedently frivolous and improper ethics complaint against me and Senator Cruz.”
He wrote his objection was “a lawful process” invoked previously by Democrats and that “my objection rested on far more solid ground than the electoral college objections submitted by Democrat Members of Congress after the 2000, 2004 and 2016 elections.”
Hawley wrote that “[b]y knowingly submitting a frivolous complaint to accomplish impermissible partisan purposes, these Senators have engaged in improper conduct that may reflect upon the Senate. The Committee should discipline these Members to ensure that the Senate’s ethics process is not weaponized for rank partisan purposes.”
Cruz objected to Arizona’s electors to Biden before the Capitol break-in that resulted in the deaths of four Trump supporters and one police officer. When debate resumed, Hawley objected to Pennsylvania’s electors for Biden, forcing a debate.
The Democratic senators last week requested an ethics probe of Hawley and Cruz (R-Texas), saying they “lent legitimacy to President Trump’s false statements about election fraud” and “continued to amplify the claims of fraud that they likely knew to be baseless and that had led to violence earlier that day.”
The Democrats wrote that “[b]y continuing to object to the electors after the insurrection, Senators Cruz and Hawley lent legitimacy to the mob’s cause.”

Sen. Hawley, who has greater knowledge of Constitutional law that all the Dims combined, is totally correct!!!!

Sen. Hawley is my senator and will remain so as long as I have anything to say about it.
On the other hand, I hope Blunt is ready to retire, because he is toast.
Dems have ZERO knowledge of constitutional law. But they certainly have every page of the “Communist Manifesto” and Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” imprinted on their brains!
A full-on steam race towards their fascist wet dream of a Central State Single Party Rule and permanent power.

I would like to see Blunt replaced with Eric Burlison, State Senator 20th District. Rock solid conservative with strong moral and ethical standards.
Oh, I dunno. Some Democrat public officials want to excellent law schools, and took Constitutional Law. Some may even have clerked for a member of the Federal judiciary. So those Democrats have quite a bit of knowledge of Constitutional Law.
However, many of them have abandoned the Constitution, and joined the uneducated Marxist rabble who may have been elected to Congress. And they all uphold the validity of the stolen 2020 election, and call those who do not “election deniers”, etc.
Shame on them!!!!

Almost EVERY so-called ‘constitutional law’ expert is trained not in the constitution itself... not in its origins, its principles, its reasoning or its debates during 1787-89. But trained from the decisions made from cases argued on constitutional grounds or invented to have constitutional standing.
Those so-called ‘experts’ are trained in case-law and precedent. Arguments which learned to them an illusion of the constitutions meaning and principles.
Many constitutional contests were blatantly decided/invented from judicial whole cloth by activist jurists which then passed on a corrupt and adulterated understanding of the constitutions limitations and inclusions upon the general governments enumerated powers/authority.
So, no way... NO WAY do the childish and snarky Dems argue from constitutional knowledge. They argue from a script as they always do... from talking points and corrupt decisions making claims the constitution is whatever a supreme court decision or jurist makes it out to be.
That is why the Democrats want to pack the court. With leftist ideologues, demagoguery bloviating jurists. So they can have the constitution mean whatever they want it to mean.
And the so-called ‘experts’ will just follow along as sheep.
That’s why I say the Democrats have ZERO knowledge of constitutional law. Because they DON’T CARE for it’s original intent... they care only that they can interpret it any way they want to suit their agenda.
For good or for ill, Constitutional law has evolved over the history of our Republic, beyond what the original Framers codified. This started very early:

So much—but not all—of that “case law” and “precedent” is a valid part of Constitutional law. Among Constitutional law practitioners, there are “originalists” such as Scalia and Trump’s Supreme Court appointees, who attempt to bring laws back to the original intent of the Framers. And there are radicals like Sotomayor who do just the opposite.
Then there are Dims like the Squad who have no training in Con law whatsoever! But they keep messing things up on their own, and call people like Ted Cruz and Hawley “insurrectionists”, when they are just following the Constitution and doing their sworn duty. So we have quite a mess, don’t we?
So the payoff the Dems are going to give you isn’t going to be big enough for all the damage inflicted on your City. Too bad. SUFFER. I am sure the DNC told them it would all be over after the election. However, they are UNGOVERNABLE as they like to say. Maybe some of those National Guardsmen doing nothing in Washington DC could come an help you... Just a thought that we have been saying for six months. If I lived in Portland, Seattle, any of those places and saw the elite being protected and my life worth nothing I would be screaming form the rooftops. Why aren’t they?
