Sen. Patrick Leahy, President pro tempore of the U.S. Senate, is expected to preside over the upper chamber’s second impeachment trial of President Donald Trump — not U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts — according to CNN and NBC News

does he get to wear a robe?
Then he is not President, and can not be tried as a common citizen. But, the Commies will do it anyway. Even many Democrats will oppose this.
I hope so, if he’s going to be presiding over an e*ection.
Yes. Let’s start with biden and kameltoe harris.
‘Now we take Georgia, then we change America’
No, Cleveland was a near- great President.
Impeachment is to be used against a sitting President...
Does this mean that the communists now admit DJT won the election?
Whatever the outcome of this show trial, it would not prevent DJT from seeking office again...
The only thing that could stop DJT, if he wanted to run again, would be Melania, if she was against it...
Hmmm... Left hand: Election... Right hand: Melania...
No brainer... Melania...
Got a link for that? The article clearly state Roberts is not presiding and says why.
Custer and women played a big role in this scandal

Yes, he can be tried.
I get that most people here have never heard of Belknap but by now that name should be getting a lot of play.
If the Demonicrats want to convict former President Trump so that he cannot run for office again, how do they explain Demonicrat Alcee Hastings who was impeached and removed from the federal bench for corruption, and who has been an elected Representative from Florida since 1993?

Sorry, but I don’t trust anyone who wears a John Bolton style mustache. I think they’re all part of some secret cult.
j/k, of course
Probably because Roberts thinks he may have to rule on the legality of the proceedings and he doesn’t want to disqualify himself. But where does the constitution permit this?
BWAAHHHH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH!
The fact that SCOTUS wants no part of this unconstitutional “trial,” and an extremely partisan senile buffoon is going to “preside,” what a ridiculous farce this will be!!
Leaky Leahy is going to need a diaper change every hour on the hour; he’ll also need nap breaks every 30 minutes.
How is this even legal, let alone Constitutional?
The D’s believe Trump is guilty. So, not only do they get to sit as the jury, one of THEIR OWN gets to be judge also? (Yeah, I’m “sure” Leahy will be TOTALLY impartial - of COURSE he is not going to be impartial!!)
This can’t possibly be even remotely legal. If this were tried in a civilian court, it’d be laughed out of court within seconds.
Is our side EVER going to stand up and say enough is enough and shut this farce down?! Where are the court cases fighting due process? Constitutionality of trying a PAST President, etc? Bueller? Anyone?...
That was not a President.
Yes, Leahy gets to wear a robe. But according to current Senate rules, it must be a bath robe with cats on it. Here’s the one Leahy is considering.
Let’s give him a “fair trial” and then impeach him. And to be clear, there is no need for “evidence” since the President’s “incitement” is clear for all good Democrats to see, as well as a few vision-challenged Republicans. I guess when you are submerged in a swamp, it can cloud your vision.
Trump and his team should boycott this charade. Being there only gives it credence. Leftists and never-Trumpers are going to vote against Trump no matter what evidence is presented. His defense will have no bearing on the end vote.
And only OFFICE HOLDERS can be impeached... The entire thing is a sham.
