Dominion Voting Systems filed a defamation lawsuit on Monday against Rudolph W. Giuliani, the lawyer for Donald J. Trump and former mayor of New York City who played a key role in the former president’s monthslong effort to subvert the 2020 election.

Just imagine if Rudy could or would prevail in such a suit. I imagine the suit is for hundreds of millions. The threat of ruin is not trivial.
But Rudy would emerge as a near-deity.
Um. Hilarity destroyed evidence and got away with it. The fbi. Also destroyed evidence to protect her according to the case against st Hillary and nothing was done about that.

Giuliani should have known better that to make claims he couldn't back up. Whether you or I think his claims are true are irrelevant in this case. Other than giving press conferences and interviews he never followed up the only place it counts- in the courtroom. As a lawyer he should know you never ever make a claim like this unless can present the evidence in a court of law to back it up.

We’ll find out soon enough how amenable Rudy is to discovery. I expect he will file a motion to dismiss under D.C.’s anti-SLAPP law. Discovery is ordinarily stayed while such a motion is pending, but the plaintiff can move for specific discovery to be authorized to help it defeat the motion. So we’ll probably have a fight over discovery right away, and it will probably be Rudy in the position of resisting discovery.
Assuming they get past the anti-SLAPP motion, Rudy’s deposition ought to be interesting viewing.
