With President-elect Joe Biden set to assume office and two newly-elected Georgia Democrat senators poised to be sworn in on Wednesday, Texas Republicans are preparing to mount a flurry of legal challenges to push back against the incoming administration’s progressive agenda.
The Biden administration has signaled a left-leaning agenda on energy, taxes, immigration, health care, and other priorities. Biden has vowed to rejoin the Paris Climate Accord and take far-reaching steps on climate change, including seeking to cut greenhouse gas emissions by half by 2030 and effectively ending them by around 2050, sparking existential fears from the fossil fuel industry, a key economic pillar for Texas.
Biden has also proposed sweeping immigration reform that would create a pathway to citizenship for more than 11 million illegal immigrants, and plans to roll back Trump’s corporate tax cuts and raise income tax.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who while serving as the state’s attorney general famously proclaimed, “I go into the office, I sue the federal government, and I go home,” said on Saturday that the Biden White House can expect a spate of legal challenges from the Lone Star state.
“A new crop of Texas-led lawsuits awaits Joe Biden’s White House,” Abbott wrote in a Saturday tweet.
“Texas will take action whenever the federal government encroaches on states’ rights, or interferes with constitutional rights, or private property rights, or the right to earn a living,” Abbott added.
The Lone Star state sued the administration of former President Barack Obama dozens of times to stop initiatives such as the Clean Power Plan or to end the Affordable Care Act, the signature health plan known as Obamacare.
The conservative Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF), which filed the Affordable Care Act challenge that is now before the U.S. Supreme Court, is gearing up for a flurry of legal challenges.

Just what I was thinking the other day. Dad is Jamaican, Mom from India, the both come to the USA solely for graduate studies for a couple years, none of them citizens, and they spew out anchor baby Kamalface and this makes her a natural born citizen how? Both parents were non - citizens therefore no way can she be POTUS, but on the other hand no way can Biden be as well because the election laws were unconstitutionally overturned in multiple states making the whole 2020 election void but apparently we don’t follow the constitution anymore.
Texas has no standing! They harbor insurrectionists and domestic terrorists. They must be de-programmed before a suit is allowed!

None, however, the Texas state government is limited to a few thousand State Guard troops, the Texas Rangers, and the state police. Two large Army bases, Fort Hood and Fort Bliss, lie within Texas's borders. The former base is less than two hours from Austin. Secession works only if Texas has sufficient military forces to resist the Federal military. Slovenia and Croatia quickly developed armed forces to defend themselves against Serbian dominated Yugoslavia. Texas and the other red states must build up independent military forces quickly. Not private militias, but well trained armed forces organized by state or county governments under the ultimate authority of the Governor. There will be no peaceful breakup, as happened with Czechoslovakia about 30 years ago.
Well that’s too bad. Really hoped Texas would leave the union. Instead they will bend over and take it.
Well, Arizona has Constitutional Carry and Texas does not, so....
That’s something Gov. Abbott needs to push through.
