President-elect Joe Biden has tapped Pennsylvania Health Secretary Rachel Levine to be his assistant secretary of health, leaving her poised to become the first openly transgender federal official to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
“Dr. Rachel Levine will bring the steady leadership and essential expertise we need to get people through this pandemic — no matter their zip code, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability — and meet the public health needs of our country in this critical moment and beyond," Biden said in a statement.

If you move here, stay out of York City. The county and burbs are fine, but the city is drug infested, crime ridden, and corrupt. I used to live in the city. We left because the gunfire we were hearing nearby was scary, and the property taxes were outrageous.
Our governor is from York (PA). I know him, and wouldn’t vote for him to be dogcatcher.
I’m glad it’s leaving Pa. also, after a year of seeing it’s disgusting face on the local news every night. I’m also glad however that it’s image can now be shared with all the people of our once great nation, just as a reminder of what we have become and possibly as an impetus to do something about it.
A mentally confused man serving as an unelected bureaucrat with significant influence over America’s health policy is not a good idea no matter which side of America’s political spectrum you’re on — conservative or communist-democrat.
There is a huge collective sigh of relief in Pennsyltucky. This individual will no longer be our problem. PA can now get on with more effective ways of dealing with Covid. This person slow walked our response and common citizens still have no real access to vaccines as a result.
