President-elect Joe Biden's newly unveiled stimulus plan includes a federal minimum wage increase to $15 an hour, although the measure is likely to face pushback in Congress.
Currently set at $7.25 an hour, Biden moved to nearly double the country's minimum wage in his $1.9 trillion economic relief package. The plan would also include the elimination of separate minimum-wage thresholds for workers who receive tips and workers with disabilities — a statement that received wide support due to its inclusivity of all workers.
"No one working 40 hours a week should live below the poverty line," Biden said in a speech on Thursday. "People tell me that's going to be hard to pass. Florida just passed it — as divided as that state is — they just passed it. The rest of the country is ready to move as well."

My God. Trillions in debt, $15 minimum wage. Doesn't anyone remember the Jimmy Carter malaise? The inflation? My savings account was paying 15% interest in a futile attempt to keep pace with inflation. Inflation is the worst tax of all. It puts the economy into a death spiral that can be damn near impossible to pull out of.
God I hate democrats.

China’s plan is to make the US dollar worth nothing.
Aren’t you glad you saved all that money for retirement?

Agree. The business decides the hourly rate and will simply fold or many layoffs.

Whopper menu would go from 6.99 to around 9.00 to 9.50.
Sticker shock probably occurs then.

Cripple small business with arbitrary shutdowns. Finish them off with $15 minimum wage. Brilliant!

With the hyperinflation coming, that won’t help. At all.

A $15 an Hour Wage actually costs the Business Owner about $18 an Hour when Employment Taxes and Benefits are included.
If I was in Business and my Labor Costs doubled overnight the Staff would be notified that there will be a 50% reduction in Staffing and the remaining Employees will be expected to work twice as hard as they do today.

I've always wanted to ask a liberal, if a $15/hr minimum wage is good, why not a $150/hr minimum wage? Why not $1500/hr?
If they tell me it causes unemployment and inflation and drives employers out of business, then I ask them how a $15/hr minimum wage is different except for degree? Are they saying they're okay with certain amount of unemployment, inflation, and killing small business?

Jack up the legal minimum wage but at the same time give amnesty for 20-30 million who are willing to work illegally.
I may have to tear up my ID and claim to be CarlosInOaxaca to work.
