The private-sector purge is beginning

Dawson Buchanan, a young Trump-supporter, left a disturbing thread on Twitter. He asserts that he was all set to begin working for a company called Private Jet Services. However, shortly before he was to begin, PJS fired him. He finally learned from the owner that PJS had a contract with the National Hockey League. When the NHL learned that PJS had hired someone who had worked for the Trump company, the NHL said PJS had a choice: Buchanan or the NHL. PJS opted for the company that helps pay its bills.

Here's Buchanan's story in his own words:

1) A couple of hours ago, I tweeted out that this tweet referred to me. Shortly after, I deleted that tweet. After much introspection, and talking with friends and family, I feel obligated to reveal why I deleted it.

A very talented friend of mine, who interned w/ @GOPLeader, and at 20 was one of the highest ranked staffers in the Trump campaign, was just fired from his new job when client found out he worked for Trump. He now can’t afford rent. Still think cancel culture isn’t that serious?

— Mark (@MarkFooterman) January 12, 2021

2) After identifying myself as the subject of the thread, @Fly_PJS reached out to me, threatening to take legal action and publicly defame me if I didn't delete the tweet. Intimidated and nervous, I immediately deleted it.

3) But after thinking about it, and discussing my rights of free speech with advisors, I will not be bullied into silence. I'm now going to raise my voice louder.

See post 17. For the software engineers 2 apps that integrate with your maps: one that warns you before patronning a business hostile to conservatives, and another that serves as a conservative business directory, so when you type in restaurant for example the ones highlighted in red would be conservative friendly. These would be great money maker apps.

This seems like a slam dunk huge damages lawsuit against the NHL (not the employer) if proven. The NHL denies the story. His attorney can subpoena emails of both the employer and the NHL and get to the bottom of what happened.

There may be some pros who have skill. That would be great to see.

In the late 1960’s, we had some plastic shielding for managing errant pucks that had been well-shot but might glance up into the crowd.

A bad shot would get you immediately removed from the ice.

The stick above a couple feet? You were out of the game.

Hit somebody who did not have the puck? You were out of the game.

No wrestling.

Never heard a word about the political action party now known as the NHL.

And, my apologies to anybody who actually skates; please forgive my unhappiness with the NHL.

Start suing these scumbags. This will stop.

For what?

Communists were fired in the 1950’s

Anyone who is ‘out’ as a Nazi or KKK member *will* be fired at almost any business and that’s been the case for years. From there it is only a microscopic jump, in the minds of liberals, to all Trump supporters.

Right now the narrative everywhere but here at FR and a few hard right publications is that this was a fascist coup attempt; I’ll be that this is how it is portrayed in every textbook hence.

Political affiliation is not a protected class, if you are in a “right to work” state (something many here have supported) you can be let go for your political beliefs.

I have yet to see a cases making political affiliation a protected class. So, no viable lawsuit there, unless he want to be a test case.

Why the left is doing this escapes me. Were we 10% of the population, blacklisting might carry some serious hurt. But we’re not - we’re 50%. We also own businesses ( I bet the person in this story has no trouble getting a great job) so we can pick up some of the fired employees.

Regardless, this will infuriate conservatives for the 2022 elections and drive turnout.

The NHL needs to get the WOKE 50% revenue cut special just like the NBA and NFL.

Well, if their goal is to get 75 million Trump supporters unemployed, they’ll end up starving to death. Won’t be enough truckers to move provisions. Won’t be enough engineers, doctors, lawyers, plumbers, mechanics, etc, etc. Their lives will be more miserable than before, but they can’t think that far enough ahead.

Leftists may say they oppose slave labor, but they admire the way China gets things done. Want a new reservoir? Build a dam and tell the people there to move. Want a new building? Bulldoze the houses while the owners are at work. Want to try a new vaccine? Lock people inside their apartments until they take the vaccine. It’s very efficient and effective.

Why wait until we are that under the gun? We can take out everything they hold dear. We built those systems and services and know how to remove them from the liberals/communists.

This will be litigated.

What law firm would agree to jump into that wood chipper?

Won’t be enough engineers, doctors, lawyers, plumbers, mechanics, etc,

I think you need to take "lawyers" off that list. There's only a handful of conservative lawyers in the entire world.

They cannot just fire you. They have to have show cause, and if they dare say in Court that they don’t like your political beliefs - it ain’t gonna work. They will lost that case and pay damages. People can go size.

This is not 1950 anymore. Those days of imperial management are gone.

Likely there are cases being settled out of court.

Not true, to my knowledge, in any ‘right to work’ state. They can let you go for any reason except federally protected ones, and political orientation is not one of those. It might be the case in some states, though.

In California, they damned well can just fire you for any reason, or none.

“Start suing these scumbags. This will stop”.

If judges who haven’t been threatened or are compromised can be found.
