Most Freepers said, why not build our own? We seen what happens when we build our own. And Gab? Very easy to block by nationwide edict (VPNs are a solution here, until they do what Communist China and the UAE did - ban VPNs)

gab is a port of another open source platform called Mastodon (very popular in India*) and Dissenter is a port of Brave (I’m using that now). gab didn’t full code anything but built off others. That’s OK.

Here is a view of gab from a point of view I’m not sure I agree with:

https://www.theverge.com/2019/7/12/20691957/mastodon-decentralized-social-network-gab-migration-fediverse-app-blocking

I suppose in this case the thing about open source is a double edged sword. Someone builds something then someone else builds on top of that and changes the original coders intent.

It’s ironic that Mastodon was built to help folks get away from the “nazis”.

Damp blankets and a stack of wood...

Let them try to silence them...

“Sounds like the guy needs some IT consultants.”

They had lots of them, some of the best. No one thought AWS would cut anyone off. I am having the pleasure of cutting off AWS from a major military contract. The DoD is taking an extremely dim view of this censorship and violations of contracts.

“In retrospect, two former “banned” outfits found a better path.”

As is thousands of others. I got a briefing this morning on companies making the switch from Amazon to Azure and other services.

A hard lesson in the dangers of out sourcing learned again. Out source and die. This goes for industry, IT and nations.

Exactly, Parler was as bad at business as their software was. A good idea so very poorly executed.

I just canceled Twilio. It is used for text messaging.

Their service constantly has problems, and I won’t do business with liberal fascists.

We also use Plivo, which has had a much better service rate uptime. Twilio was load balanced at 50/50, so they just lost a $1.4 million annual account. We coded our systems to account for failed vendors, so we had another vendor we just switched to tonight. They are also now out of the running for consideration within the architecture for a massive system where they could easily have received over $100 million annually.

Screw Twilio.

Hopefully they will win their lawsuit and recreate what they were trying to do. Should be part of the compensation. However, I have lost faith in the court system, so, never mind.

The lesson is for Parler and others is outsource your IT and web services puts you at risk. Parler needed their own IT and data farm. It’s obvious.

I guess you don’t hang around on FR’s Garden Thread. It suffices for me, at least in that topic area.

‘Course tho’, I still have technical analysis programs running on DOS. (rolls eyes)

On Wikipedia's Stormfront page:

"In August 2017, Stormfront's domain name was seized by its registrar for "displaying bigotry, discrimination or hatred."[12]

The site came back online on September 29, 2017. As of October 2017, services to keep the site online were provided by Tucows, Network Solutions, and Cloudflare.[56]"

I dislike Stormfront, but those domain registrars might be worth a look for companies like Parler.

I just ran a whois on stormfront.org. Tucows is the registrar, and Cloudfare provides nameservers.

A question arises, though. Why is the left broadcasting associations all over the place between conservative sites and the Daily Stormer (owned by an evil nut) while keeping so quiet about Stormfront (owned by pure evil)?

satan!

The spirit of the anti-christ (evil incarnate) is alive and well and fighting like hell!

It is a spiritual warfare.

Why did nancy, who claims to pray and believe in the Holy Scripture, do away with man, woman, father, mother, etc? Satan!

jmho.

Free Republic is my social media.

For politics and news, yes.

Not appropriate for anything else. And most of us have lives outside of FR.

Well that’s your opinion and you are entitled to it. I don’t agree.

There are all sorts of interesting groups here: Garden Thread, Recipe Thread, Homesteading type thread, prepper thread, 2cnd amendment thread, prayer thread, Catholic Caucus, and on and on.

And of course, since I live in a small town, I have plenty of old fashioned social activities with my neighbors.

Nancy adheres to a romantic, idolatrous religion that worships women and motherhood.

There is a DEMAND Mr. Parler CEO.

All you need are FINANCIERS brave enough to invest.

I would think Elonn Musk, the richest man in the world would be interested in chipping in a billion for the data center that you need.
