BREAKING: Parler sues Amazon for antitrust violation, breach of contract and unlawful business interference. Asks federal judge to order Amazon to reinstate the platform
— John Kruzel (@johnkruzel) January 11, 2021
Parler is suing Amazon for antitrust violation only a day after Amazon disappeared the app from the internet.
GAB. I believe the CEO is a Christian.
Then, you don’t.
Random case assignment.
If that’s true, why did their previous law firm withdraw their services yesterday?
“An 82 year old Democrat appointed judge?! I said this on another thread today: how do the left always end up in front of Dem appointed leftist judges? Hundreds of Trump appointed Federal judges, and many holdovers from the Bush days, but they are never assigned to contentious cases between left and right. The rot in the Federal judiciary is much deeper than any of us understand.”
You ask a really good question. While each district court has its own rules for the assignment of judges, the process is usually random unless the new case is related to another case or the judge has a specific expertise in the subject matter (in theory, the expertise is more than just “I hate Trump”). In addition, senior judges can generally set their workload, which means the judges can limit their case assignments.
The Western District of Washington, which includes the Seattle/Tacoma metro region, has two regular judges, five vacant positions ( no pending Trump nominees), and ten senior judges with an average age of 90+. The senior judges have the right to limit their caseload and many of them administer no more than a handful of cases at any given time. At least four of the judges on the senior division date to the Regan administration, and they age between 80 and 91. None of the judges were appointed by DJT. There is a really good chance that these judges have a limited caseload. While there may be other judicial districts that screw with the judicial assignments, this one seams legit.
I see that they have new representation.
Wow I remember that guy, read part of his book a long time ago about the Gulag. Prisoners freezing tortured by starvation forced to watch the officers eat like Kings.
I’ll be looking forward to OCI going forward.
Why don’t all right thinking individuals move to Freep?
Is our Freep in harm’s way?
I’ve been moving to a different safe house every night for the last week. Your post appears facetious, but is very serious. Society can change very quickly, sometimes over night. With a significant and growing number of people no longer favoring the 1st amendment, the time is growing short. With no hope of reforming the schools and a political party on the sidelines just watching it happen, I don’t believe thus is fixable. We will have some form of “camps” in our lifetime. It will be more subtle and sophisticated than a camp, perhaps cut off all access to society that you are literally under house arrest, although they won’t call it that. I believe this is their goal with Trump - to cut off access to his supporters, communication, banks, etc. The business that processes transactions for the Trump shop dropped him today and the bank that handles his political donations has refused to process them as of today.
I don’t know whaat?
I believe the first team of lawyers quit when they got threats.
‘’Asks federal judge to order Amazon to reinstate the platform’’
Should have asked for money instead
Turning FR into a Twitter type site would be nothing but thousands and thousands of vanities a day.
You don’t “follow” people here, so we all would have to filter all the nonsense.
It would be like having a couple thousand Gateway Pundit articles a day...
Damages and court costs awarded to Parler, and a continuance of service is immediately ordered at cost of further penalty if not implemented.
That is, if the courts aren’t complete shit at this point.

I agree. Even a conservative judge will be overturned by the appeals courts. I don’t even look to the lack of guts supreme court any longer. A bunch of gutless old men collecting liberal paychecks now. To hell with the hole mob of them. When the Marxist’s pack with 6 more massively Marxist judges, the old over the hill former conservative judges will be nothing. They will lose every vote 10 to 5. I fully expect them to add SIX. That way they never ever lose a vote again. Then making DC and PR states give them 4 more liberal senators and ever how many house reps, 1 for DC and ? for PR gives them more. Naw, our chances of winning the WH or even the House or Senate may have passed. America as founded is done. The Marxist will now rape every law and the Constitution and Bill of Rights to make it a one party country, COMMUNISM PARTY OF AMERIKA. Or the United Nations Communist Party. Something along those lines. The ONLY way America will ever be taken back is by armed force. I know a lot of our side has guns, but when the left say give up your weapons or we will freeze your bank accounts, suspend your job, not allow you to vote, cannot buy or sell, etc., etc., most will give up their guns I fear.
The legal system is insufficient to defend one’s business interests. It is WAY TOO SLOW. Even if you DO have standing! What a JOKE.
Capacity? All of them. These providers could each host 100,000 Parlers. Features? Some of that depends on Parler's staffing. For example, if their people only understand how to run a service like RDS and don't - for example - have any experience managing hypervisors, they're going to need to stick with providers that have those services available. But that's a simple staffing thing, and they still have about a dozen different providers that will have those types of services readily available. Or they can hire better IT people who have broader knowledge and use any of the other 1,000. There's nothing AWS has you can't easily do yourself or do on Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform or any other.
"How many could / would stand up to being pressured not to do business with Parler?"
But that isn't relevant to a court case alleging that Amazon AWS is a "trust" or a monopoly. If the thing you're wanting to host is so hot that nobody wants to take your money, that isn't an issue of monopoly. The trust issue comes in when you're basically the only game in town to the point that you can pick winners and losers. That doesn't exist in the hosted services world. AWS is big, but less than half of the cloud platform market and probably less than 10% of the overall hosted services market.
"How long would it take for Parler to make the switch?"
Again, that's not relevant to a case alleging anti-trust activity. If my landlord kicks me out for keeping pets in violation of the lease, I can't allege anti-trust activity because it's going to take me a while to find a new place and move all my stuff. Well, I can allege anything I want, but that's getting thrown out unless I live in an area where there's only one landlord and he's refusing to rent to me. But there isn't. There's 1,000 landlords. How long it takes to move my stuff between them is not an issue relating to monopoly.
"GAB appears to be online but frozen or totally overwhelmed."
GAB is likely experiencing either scaling problems (platform grew quickly and they didn't build the platform in a way that can grow quickly) or budget problems (adding more capacity costs more money - possibly more money than you have available) or both. Still not relevant to the legal case with Parler. Parler has no legal case. What they have is a lawyer willing to take their money.
