The January 6 protest in Washington, D.C. was a unique moment in the history of the United States, in several ways. A massive march on Capitol Hill may not have prevented the inevitable certification of Joe Biden’s alleged victory in the presidential election, but it did alter the political landscape. Was it MAGA Country’s last hurrah, though, or the beginning of a new consciousness in America?
For the first time, tens of thousands of ordinary Americans from across the land converged on the capital, not to protest some despicable government policy or demand government action on an issue, but in direct support of a single man who happens to be the president.
Also, this is one of the few times since the country’s very founding that the ruling class is afraid. The wails of anguish heard across the District of Columbia and throughout the offices of establishment media organizations is real enough. Even most Republicans have joined the chorus of outrage directed at President Trump, though it could be argued that he personally did nothing to spark his supporters’ siege of the Capitol, which was going to happen with or without his speech earlier that day.
It would be easy to imagine that the anger over the unrest in Washington is fake. After all, there was relatively little violence, considering the sheer number of people that flowed down Constitution and Pennsylvania avenues to make themselves heard outside the marbled halls of Congress. Also, in comparison to the chaos, death, and destruction inflicted upon several U.S. cities by left-wing extremists over the course of many weeks, the D.C. protesters were remarkably restrained.
But that anger rippling through the corridors of power and radiating out to all those who think they have some kind of divine right to rule is real enough – and it comes from fear.
The truth is, had Trump’s supporters decided that violence and vandalism were their preferred expressions of anger – had they been intent on bringing down the lawmakers and putting a stop to the transfer of executive power – they would have come armed to Washington and could not have been stopped. The mass of humanity that flowed up to the very walls of the Capitol Building was easily sufficient to overrun the place entirely.
Had the MAGA crowd considered using the tactics of the far left, the bodies of police officers would have littered the grounds, and thousands would have rampaged through the Senate and House chambers, destroying and burning as they went. That wasn’t the plan, however. That is not how most Trump supporters believe things should be done.
Members of Congress cowered as just a few protesters – who many suspect were not real Trump supporters – cavorted around the building and made the most of their photo ops. Sadly, one police officer was killed but so was one female Trump supporter, shot by a federal agent or a plain-clothes Capitol Police officer. Three others also died of as yet unspecified causes. The deaths are a tragedy. Indeed, it is tragic that even a specter of political violence hangs over the last free country on Earth.
This was no insurrection. If it was, the protesters would still be occupying the Capitol Building today and there would be no inauguration of Joe Biden on January 20. This was an expression of collective anger and pent-up frustration, made worse by the presence of agitators who may or may not have been Antifa or perhaps even government operatives. The nation will likely never know the truth about who really was behind the violence.
The big takeaway from the event, however, was that MAGA Country, now all but abandoned by the Republican invertebrates in Congress, learned that it can rattle the cages of our supposedly elected leaders. More importantly, those officials know it now, too, which is why some of them are already attempting to brand the demonstrators as terrorists.
Perhaps – hopefully – that knowledge will be enough to curb some of the worst authoritarian tendencies of the new and soon-to-be all-powerful Democratic Party and its Republican house pets. After all, even though Donald Trump has only a couple of weeks left in the White House, MAGA Country can return to the Capitol any time it chooses.
I like how he calls the Republicans demonrat “house pets.”
That is exactly what they are!
And I believe this IS just the beginning!
There was a FAKE ELECTION perpetrated by treasonous government officials in cooperation with the CCP, for shit sakes!!
And they expect us to swallow this TREASONOUS ELECTION??
Over my dead body!!!!
They think clamping down on the internet is going to stop what is surely coming????
HOW STUPID CAN THEY BE??
I commented to a friend that there were not enough police or troops in the DC area to prevent those two million people from taking over the Capitol and all representatives if they had wanted to. A few battles by provacateurs does not make an insurrection.
It was our Reichstag fire. It is being and will be used to clamp down on dissent and cement absolute power among the ruling class. The next time anyone marches in DC, if they are not BLM or other approved protesters, they will be mowed down in the streets. Those who were there on January 6 will be hunted down and driven out of their jobs, their businesses and labelled domestic terrorists for life.
(Yes, I do know that the original Reichstag fire was used against the communists.)
It’s just not a very good example. It trivializes the behavior of those who are involved in violent, life-threatening activities that cause a police response in the first place.
The author is on point from beginning to end, tho.
no doubt. just the beginning. Patriots must realize we are no victims. 74 million people have tremendous power. We just need to exercise it in a variety of areas to enact change and fighting back. We have the knowledge and wherewithal to start companies, boycott, deactivate accounts, support upcoming new media and companies, get rid of RINOs, vote in Patriots, sue, class action suits, run for office, stand up for out ideas and do not allow ourselves to be silenced. Fight Back!
I fear you are correct. Regardless of one’s level of optimism, America is in for some hard times — including those who were duped into voting Democrat. Their leaders despise them and take them for granted.
The left is far less tolerant of dissent than are conservatives. Many examples in our recent history.
Consider this; during the Summer of Love, people were rioting in the streets against freedom in favor of tyranny. The public schools and media have been very successful in dumbing down the heirs to our Constitutional Republic.
Leftists are True Believers who think it’s a sin to allow the Infidel freedom of speech, freedom of association — and self-defense if attacked by their AntiFa/BLM Sturmabteilung.
Yes..it always starts with brainwashing young minds in schools. The teachers owe their good living to the teachers union. So the teachers follow guidelines from their union.
Too bad the Marxist media will show a few violent scenes that happened in the capital building over and over and over again. They will never show that there were hundreds of thousands of completely peaceful people all over the mall, there to support America and President Trump. People who consume only the Marxist media will have the impression that everyone there participated in a riot.
That law was enacted by his elected representatives. One does not change the law by fighting the police on the street.
................................................
Some laws are so inane it’s simply mind boggling, and this one is a perfect example. It’s the kind of law that is routinely ignored by virtually all rational people. Of course it’s also the kind of law that affords those with a little authority the opportunity to push people around. Spit!
In re the schools, nine percent of kids k-12 are private schooled. 3-5 percent are home schooled.
If we talk about high school about a third of kids drop out. So really only about 45 percent of American kids go k-12 public school education.
Not as bad as we fear.
These are the laws the people in that jurisdiction voted for. If we allow the law to be changed because someone doesn’t think it should apply to them, so they fight the police, that replaces civility with barbarism.
The laws are not the fault of the police. To fight them when enforcing it, is to put one’s own life, the lives of the police, and those of innocent bystanders in danger.
So to hell with that fat scumbag! You don’t like the law? There is a peaceful process of changing it.
And this is the sort of jurisprudence for which the people of NYC voted. It is a heavily regulated society. That’s what the voters apparently want.
This is why I have little sympathy for people who have found themselves subject to unchecked riots accompanied by grinding lockdowns. When I see a shopkeeper being interviewed complaining how their outdoor market is closed while the outdoor canteen for a movie set is open, my question always is, “did you vote Democrat?”
A bit of sarcasm on my part after hearing that they are adding the part about not being allowed to run for office to the Impeachment process.
This is sounding a little bit like that plot line from the movie “Shooter”.
#14. Re “We no longer can ask why the Jews willingly walked up the ramps and into the cattle cars”. They were fooled by foolish, ignorant of reality leaders, good Nazi propaganda, Good Germans, and a well constructed oppression machinery.
Hey, that sounds like today’s Fascist/Marxist Democrat Party with its armed stormtroopers and rioters/arsonists, Antifa/BLM; propaganda arms - the mainstream media and Big Tech communications/internet companies; Fake Incidents - Reichstag Fire, now Black fake anti-white harassment incidents; Outside agitators posing as Trump supporters; Disinformation propaganda operations swallowed whole by the mainstream media; Alinsky-program smear campaigns against their real or imagined opponents, and a Marxist-Fascist Axis such as the Ribbentropp-Molotov Agreements for the conquest of Poland and then much of Europe.
As Obama has already said, “Yes we did”!
Seems that if he had surrendered peacefully, he would have had the chance to argue that case in court. Would a jury really vote to convict someone of selling cigarettes one by one?
In other words, Heil Biden! Sieg hiel! We should probably address him as "Der Fuhrer", as well.
Neither.
It is somewhere in the middle.
